Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Mike Mazurki

    jilfalk — 17 years ago(October 04, 2008 07:34 PM)

In Glendale CA, Mike rear-ended my mom, brother and I in my mom's station wagon in the early sixties. Once he saw there were kids in he car, he became very concerned and made sure that we were alright. We were. Thanks Mike. RIP

Just idly curious: what did he do to compensate for the collision? Pay you mother out of pocket? I don't think car insurance was manditory in those days.
Okay folks, show's over, nothing to see here!

I had the pleasure and honor to sit with Mr. Mazurki at lunch one day when he was playing Big Jule in Garland Wright's superb production of Guys and Dolls at the Guthrie. It featured Jerry Stiller as Nathan Detroit, Barbara Sharma as Miss Adelaide, Roy Thinnes as Sky Masterson and the divine Kathy Morath as Sarah Brown. Mike Mazurki was indeed, one of the nicest people I've ever met, and certainly one of the nicest celebrities. We didn't talk long, and mostly it was about Some Like It Hot, but I'll always treasure that lunch. RIP, Big Jule!!
