Either that or just being professional about being a public person. I take it you haven't worked in the service sector.
Also I believe the OP said that Gosling was high fiving the "crew" not the extras. -

Actually I do, which is what prompted my response : I've seen too many fake smiles..it's the kind of "professionalism" that starts to work on your nerves.

My point still stands : the alleged (mis)behavior of Eva isn't really in any reasonable proportion to the hate of the OP or on this board.
Chances are she's just a normal person with good and bad days. -

From the descriptions that people are making of encounters with Eva Mendes, if they are true, it sounds as if she has serious anger management problems, or perhaps some other issue that is making her unbalanced or incapable of dealing with the public [even though she's an actress and that's what she does for a livelihood].
Let me just speculate: perhaps she can't deal with the overwhelming attention that celebrities receive on a daily basis? That might explain her 5b4cold, unapproachable demeanor in the grocery store. Or perhaps she is being defensive since so many catty women hate her for dating Ryan Gosling. I mean, she's not living in a vacuum and some of the horrible comments littering every forum on the Internet about her and Gosling must come to her attention. But that wouldn't explain her attitude towards film crew and extras. Maybe she's just a diva. She wouldn't be the first or the last. Hollywood is full of divas. My brother used to work in a retail store and Madonna walked in one day and he said she was horrible. She looked so unpleasant and absolutely, horribly unapproachable. One man had the nerve to come up to her. He said hello and told her that he had worked with her in some film that she had made years earlier and her reply was a frosty and nasty: "CAN'T REMEMBER, TOO LONG AGO" and she walked away without even looking at him. -

I agree with you. Last night she was in line behind me at the grocery store and had an attitude, and didn't come off as approachable. No one in line was bothering her for an autograph or paying much attention to her. I can understand having bad days like someone pointed out on here, but the way you are describing her is exactly how her presence was last night.
While I was having my groceries rung up my boyfriend and I looked at each other amazed at how she gave off a cold vibe, we've seen other celebrities in our neighborhood and don't pay them much attention, but she is the first one that I've been around who didn't seem friendly. Her attitude was very noticeable, I guess she's just not a people person, but still, it wasn't like she was being hounded by fans or paparazzi. -

It's too bad she comes off this way. She or her publicists should read these threads so she could work at being nicer or at least crack a smile once in a while when they take a pic of her walking down the street. She may be a private person but dang, she works in a very public profe1908ssionstop looking cranky!! And start being nice to your fans and people in general. She is the spokesperson for Pantene, Calvin Klein, Angel perfume, Reeboks. If she wants to sell this stuff, she needs to work on her public image or just being a nice person especially in public.
I wouldn't be surprised if Gosling and her break up.. -

You can't really judge a person when you don't meet them and are only around them for a few days. Maybe she got some really bad news, or was sick. Sure, I think it speaks of a person if they make an effort to interact kindly with everyone around them, (that's great of Gosling), but you don't really know the circumstances.

I don't really care what's going on in your life, you still should practice common courtesy to others. It doesn't matter how beautiful, how rich or how successful you are, there's never an excuse to act rudely.

I can't really speak for her everyday life. But I saw the new Pines movie and she is fantastic in it, and her character is suppose to be "miserable and stressed out" so maybe she was method acting. At the fair, she meets Ryan again, but is unhappy that he never called her.
I think some of her "behavior" may be just being uncomfortable in the public eye, being a spanish-speaking Latina in a primarily white film industry. She must face a lot of rejection from roles and criticism for trying to make it in hollywood. Also, she is 40 and single without kids, so maybe she's depressed about that. -

This is easily the worst thread on a personal incident regarding a celebrity that I've ever seen. As others have stated, you can't base someone off of how they acted in one day, especially if you're a freaking extra!
You didn't get the whole story and just because the lead star decides to be courteous and randomly shake everyone's hand doesn't mean everyone else who doesn't is automatically an a$$hole.
She's has a squeaky clean image and while this rumor or brief word of hearing stuff about her doesn't have any bearing on her otherwise friendly and humorous nature or status as a sex symbol (a la Raquel Welch).
Actors are people too.
I had a Film Appreciation teacher at UTA Arlington who claimed that Morgan Freeman wasn't friendly or outgoing when she worked as a production assistant on one of his films but then she explained that it was her assistant staff requesting an autograph while Morgan was content to go straight back and camp out in his trailer before the next scene later in the day.
It's not a crime to camp out, not every movie set is a greeting ground and sometimes the movie won't be what you signed up for and you might appear flustered but LOOKS AREN'T EVERYTHING! -

Maybe she did act that way, but I would suggest taking these kind of threads with a grain of salt. We have no chance of knowing if any of it is true. Just be careful, and make your conclusion based on something you heard on an Internet forum that is all.
