Has anybody heard this? I've heard Some People which is totally groovy and by far surpasses the original. I'm wondering what the rest of the album is like?

I bought this when it came out for its novelty value, but it's not as kitchy as one would hope. Just the songs with that ubiquitous dico beat underscoring them.
She sing pretty well, but she does that wierd 'scoop' thing that she is famous for way more than usual.

Hearing "I've Got Rhythm" against a disco beat is interesting. I heard the album back when it first came out.my older brother bought it.but I bought the CD when I found it a few years ago. I still like it.

That album is absolutely goddamn ****ing hilarious!
              Sample tune:
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.

It's not as fun as I thought it would be. It's easy to see that Merman's voice was recorded before the disco music. That was pointed out in a review:
In a retrospective review, William Ruhlmann of music database website Allmusic rated The Ethel Merman Disco Album two-and-a-half out of five stars. Ruhlmann noted that "everyone, it seemed, was adding a disco beat and trying to cash in on the current – and temporary – fad" and that Merman "was 20 years past her last big success on the Great White Way and, you'd have thought, ready for retirement." He called the album "pretty much like you'd expect. Arranger Peter Matz creates typical disco arrangements - and Merman sings the way she always does, sounding like she has nothing to do with the background at all." Ruhlmann concluded: "The record is really only good for a laugh, but there's just one joke."
