Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Ethel Merman

    filmmekker — 20 years ago(December 03, 2005 08:06 PM)

The new bio of the Merm is finally out and it's great. It's called "Ethel Merman, The Biggest Star On Broadway" by Geoffrey Mark. It's full of revealing stuff, like it claims her actual birth date was in 1906, not 1908 and it tells what (supposedly) went down between her and Ernest Borgnine. A must for any fans of this great talent.

I read that book and sorta amazed that She and Ernie Borgnine did not consummate their marriagethought they had shacked up prior to the marriage.
He has been very successfully married to cosmetics queen Tova Borgnine for a long long time, so Ernie was and is "okay".

The new book is fantastic, just finihed reading it. It shows Ethel as a human beiing, both good and bad sides of her. Take a peek at the new book if you are a fan of Ehtels.
