Yeah- That's what I was thinking too. He looks like hell. I mean he's thin and all but he looks like he's been on something. The dental surgery wouldn't make him look like that though. But yeah, I actually like the short hair.

Yah he looked a little fake baked and too skinny. Not cute, but loved him in Evening Harder in Toronto.YUM. Dude is hottest when he just looks like himself. In Z&M they were trying to hard to make him hot(ter).

Long term (10 years of) drug use, i.e. heroin and oxycontin, cause permanent damage to one's body. So ten years from now, even if he has not had a lick of drugs or alcohol since April 6 2003 (his sober anniversary), he will still have some physical features like a "gaunt" face and thinness, brittle bones, and some tics and nervousness, as heroin practically fries your brain. The fact that he had the entire SCRIPT (everyone's parts) memorized for Dogma, shows how brilliant he is, and I think he looks MUCH healthier in Zack and Miri. He had some Dental work done, but I am pretty sure it was before Zack and Miri, and he refused painkillers so that he wouldnt get addicted again. The heroin ate practically all of his teeth out, and while he was addicted, he'd have perfectly healthy teeth ;pulled just to get the painkillers for it. He's been through a lot, but he is definately sober, and does not drink alcohol nor do any type of drugs. I don't even thib68nk he takes TYLENOL. He got sober after TEN YEARS on drugs, something most people do not ever recover from, and he will always have permanent physical and neurological damage. Cut him some slack.

I just saw him in "Degrassi Goes Hollywood" & he looked like crap. He looked like he was still on heroin. I couldn't believe how wretched he looked. It looks like he's had a relapse or has AIDS, it was very sad to see him in such an emaciated state.

You guy are hilarious. Making him look drugged out for his character. Ha! Listen to the podcast. He was ON DRUGS. That wasn't character. That was a side effect.

Experienced opiate users are very skilled att taking just about enough to feel and appear "normal" (like pre-drug use or a regular person) when necessary. When they feel it's not that important to appear focused and normal (like when shooting someone elses part of a dialogue (Chris Rock - Dogma) or doing commentary track (can't remember which) Well then they take the dose that make them feel happy/good/relaxed and it'll show.
I think Jason through all of his movies have appeared fit for tb68he job. If he ran out of drugs during shooting though, that's when it gets impossible. Consider yourself during the worst flu/fever of your life, combine that with your worst stomach flu of your life (Extra fever + diarrhea and vomiting), and consider that you're dealing with those two while sitting naked on the ice on the north pole, with your worst muscle aches you've ever had after physical excercise, and at the same time sweating as much as if you're sitting in a sauna in full winter gear. Oh the sweating makes the freeze feel so much colder, so putting on more clothes does nothing positive, at all.
And the cold isn't on your skin. It's deep down up from your spine to your neck, impossible to get rid of. It's freezing from within.
And I haven't even come to the worst part yet. Every muscle/inch of your body feels 100 % restless/uneasy. You can't sit still for but one second, but have to do hummingbird vibrations constantly or you'll rip your fcking hair out. Yet the worst is to come. All this physical stuff, add to that the complete lack of both physchological and physical energy, many abstinent junkies can take over 5 hours from wakening up to getting out of bed, and having trouble walking a distance of 300 metres or standing up for 20 minutes.
So even though you can't sit still, you can't do jack beep of you're probable inteterests and hobbies either.
And that's why I very seriously doubt that Jason was "just drinking on evenings" during JaSBSB. Adding a constant hungover to kicking just days before shooting began I mean those proceedings and then turning in that of an energetic performance? I doubt it very much. Compare to Dogma or Zack and Miri where we know he was doing constantly and he shows exactly the same mannerisms, energy et cetera. And then you read Kevin's account on how he is when he's been off drugs for a shorter while. A wreck in pain, restlessness, anxiety and depression. I don't buy it. I don't think this ordeal is said and done just yet, I don't think Jason has wanted to admit to being jacked up in every last one of his scenes 1998-2008.
There is but one cure for the first few days, weeks and months and that's socializing. Being alone you'll never make it. Your previous hobbies and interests will suck, if you even make it to get around to them. Shaking in front of the TV/with a book doesn't work at all. Every passive pasttime is out of the question because of the inner restlessness. But watching a movie with a friend? Taking a cup of coffee down at coffee house, as long as you're doing something active that's fun (like talking to a good friend) that doesn't take much in terms of energy, you'll manage. Riding shotgun with a good friend at the wheel, going anywhere, is a very successful way of killing time during the worst parts. The vibrations of the car allows your muscles to feel reason1c84ably okay so you can sit still, your friends company allows you to not contemplate suicide or relapse.
And I heard him speak recently. That hoarse of a voice is exactly why heroin got the nickname "horse". We'll see if he's still sneaking around but I wish him the very best.
Oh and yeah a junkie would often call the innate physical/psychological restlessness/unease and the freezing for "the shakes".
And I thought he looked really good in Zack and Miri + he sort of stole the show.
