Good for you! I did not have the same luck, unfortunately. Sent her a birthday greeting and request for an autograph last year, but did not get a reply. I'll still always be a great admirer, though.

Aw, I'm sorry you didn't get a reply, man. I was actually shocked that I did because I thought she had pretty much vanished from the public since 1995 to the point where Jessica Beil had to consult her grandson in preparation for her role in "Hitchcock" instead of Miles herself.

So great that she replied to your letter! I wonder why no reply to the birthday greeting? I'm a huge fan of hers and would like to write her, so maybe I will now.
Thanks for posting this. Nice to know that she is in good health and keeping up with her fans, most of them at least.

Have you 5b4communicated here with tristandude, via private message, to see if the address you have corresponds? My understanding is that she refuses
          ALL
interviews and public appearance requests. Such a shame, because she's one dynamite lady!

No, I haven't communicated with Tristandude, but a good idea. I've never written a fan letter, and feel kind of funny about doing so. But when you think about it, it would just be like a thank you note, for her work.
That would be really nice if she did an interview or wrote a book, but I guess that is just not going to happen. It makes you think that she doesn't want the public to see her as an elderly woman. just remember her as the beautiful young and middle-aged actress we knew.
I really appreciated that Doris Day came to her 90th birthday party. Seeing her doing well meant a lot. Also, Joan Fontaine continued to appear in her advanced years. I do reme16d0mber though that she said her favorite actress was Garbo and she was shocked and disheartened to see a picture of her in her old age. She was saying she didn't want to do that to people. But Fontaine looked great well into old age.

Vera Miles continued to do interviews until 10 years ago. I think the gist of her reason for refusing to make public appearances/interviews is that she is tired of talking about Hitchcock. Granted she did some films with him but she has done so much more in her career yet the only things people seem to ask her about for the most part are the films she did with Hitch.

Vera Miles has always been a favorite actress of mine. No matter what role she plays, she is great. I am watching the premier movie for the tv series Cannon and she does a great job in it as well. She had so many wonderful movie roles and so many great television appearances after her movie career ended.
I respect her right to keep out of the public eye for whatever reason. She was and is still a great actress and a great lady. I wish her the best.

Good for you man. I am a very big fan of hers and like her in "The Psycho" and "The Wrong Man". She was Hitchcock's most favourite blond actress!
Would you be kind enough to give me her postal address, so that I could also write to her?
                  Thanks,
                  Purush

Since you all seem to love Ms. Miles as much as I do, here's a link to
                      23 Paces to Baker Street
, a little-seen movie that was largely unavailable for decades. She gives a lovely performance in it, and the print is in its original CinemaScope aspect ratio, and without interruptions.
EDIT: Sorry, it now has commercial breaks, but you can skip them within seconds. If you haven't seen it, it's a
                      terrific
                      film!
