We're still wishing the extraordinary Ms. Mitchell all our best! At the risk of repeating ourselves, she's one of the greatest singer/songwriters of our time! And when we say one of the greatest, we really mean second only to Bob Dylan! We love ya, Roberta Joan!

I wish the polio had killed her as a child. No offense meant to you. I just think she is a rotten excuse of a slimy human being for what she tried to do to Jackson Browne, who, FYI, has infinitely more talent than
her

In the early '90s, when Jackson and Daryl (grr) broke up, there rumors flying that Jackson beat her up. Daryl came right out and denied the rumors and Jackson didn't justify the filth with a reply. Joni Mitchell, his ex-girlfriend, wrote the song "Not to Blame" accusing him of having beaten Daryl. She also said he drove his wife to suicide. She never says he beat her, of course, because then she could be called on her bluff, but she felt perfectly okay about saying Jackson Browne beat his other girlfriend and made his wife commit suicide. If you look at the lyrics, it's atrocious that she could get away with speaking of things about which she had no understanding.

That is if she did write it about Jackson Browne. The only person (apart from yours5b4elf that is) that says she did, is Jackson Browne! Turbulent Indigo is a fantastic album which she won 2 Grammies for I can't remember the last time Mr Browne was ever nominated(ok so it was 1999 for Best Collaboration or something but did he win? Sorry I'm being petty). I'm not going to start a slanging match but she wrote 'Not To Blame' about the 65% of women in British Columbia that have been battered by their husbands. If you can't see beyond your gossip-magazine mentality then I think you need to have a re-look at your values. I think Mr Browne protests too much and his conscience is pricked a little.
There ain't no smoke without fire.
Yes and Jackson Browne was her boyfriend when? back in '72 or something ridiculous? You'd think he'd have gotten over it by now! I'm sorry if you think that 'Not To Blame' is about Mr Browne, but I think it's about the wider subject of domestic violence and the silent shame that a lot of women go through. If you're going to make it about one person and one person's problems then you're missing the point about the talent and genius of Joni Mitchell.

Happy 69th birthday to a woman of heart and mind. She has influenced female troubadours much more than she gets credit for these days, and sadly, her legacy seems to have taken a backseat to other issues.
