She doesn't seem to appreciate her fans…

Really? That's it? That's what you're all up in arms about? She politely declines the girl by saying her hands are full and then the girl acts like she's entitled to something by saying "But I watch the L Word." she brushes her of with a tone that assures her she appreciates her support but she's not getting anything today. I'm sure she didn't realise it but that girl was being pushy by not having enough grace or courtesy to be respectful and leave KM well enough alone while she's trying to buy a few magazines.
Here's the thing a lot of people need to keep in mind before they go crying about how mean celebrities are to them. They aren't entitled to a damned thing when they find a celeb out on the street. That's their time. If you meet them at a premire, an event of some kind or a signing then have at it otherwise you're running the risk of being seen as a pest.
Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence. -

I just wanna say that even if she was being that way in a video, like every fan will say, you do not know her personally.. A lot of things could have been happening that day.. You dont know, you wasnt there and inside her head.. also.. even if she is that kind of person in real life are you seriously gonna start hating her character on the show? She is an awesome actress! I wouldnt let her real life judge and change what I know her as from her acting..

I agree with SJODay12. I mean none of us know her personally. And also she could've been having the beep day. Everything could have been going wrong. and for all we know five seconds before that video starts a ton of people could have bombarded her with annoying pleas for pictures and autographs. She could've stood there on the beep day of her life dealing with annoying fans one by one and just been down right feed up with everything in the world. She's a great actress. That's all that matters. She does her job. I doubt you see a veterinarian and beg them for pictures and autographs. So why do that to other people just doing their job?

OK, I won't claim that she is a very decent human being (though I am pretty sure she is) since I don't know her but in that video she was POLITE. She POLITELY declined with a POLITE excuse. Those guys were not POLITE. It looks like the whole filming ( with all those stupid remarks Oh, dogies, I love dogies) was staged, like they already knew she was at that magazine shop board. They were giggling, they were loud, they had a camera, they were filming and girl approached. Nothing polite about it. I feel really sorry for the girl but that video, by all means, does not make Kate untouchable, rude bitch.

I have known Kate for several years as met her on set of Shipping News and we both lived in WeHo. Kate is not particulary at ease being a celeb. She doesnt really think of herself as a celeb anyway. She was horrified when she went to Tokyo for a &2000quot;Shane" promotion and there were several hundred screaming girls in airport. A lot of times she can be standoffish due to her mood. Kate can be moody, yet other times I have seen her effusive and joking and laughing with fans. Dont judge until you have been in her situation and just wanting to go out with friends and then have some crazed fan actually grab her. In private shes very generous and a lot of fun to be around and everybody likes her.

I get where you're coming from but to be fair not everybody likes being harassed in the street by loud and seemingly rude people. Maybe she was having an off day and just wanted to chill out for a bit.
I'd like to make it known that she personally responds to almost every message that she recieves from her fans - whether via facebook, twitter etc - because she doesn't believe she would be anywhere without them. It might just be me, but this doesn't seem like the actions of someone who doesn't appreciate her fans.
I'm not very good with words so i in no way mean this to come off as offensive, i'd just like to try and set the record straight and maybe restore your faith in her =]

^Awww that's nice she replies to her fans on Facebook and Twitter^
As for the video I don't see anything wrong with it. Like others said she said her hands were full and couldn't take a picture. Also we forget something very important celebs aren't gods they are normal people that have either chosen or been shoved into the spotlight. They have bad days just like us. Come on guys haven't you every had a day where you just don't want to talk anyone let alone have your picture taken? Like another poster said you don't know what was going on with her that day. Also that guy was being loud and obnoxious. -

"Kate is not particulary at ease being a celeb."
I don't buy this. Kate hasn't come into the celeb world from some backwater town. Her parents are in the arts and her family seems very connected with the showbiz world.
She also has no problem doing those god awful L Word conventions with thousands of hysterical girls screaming at her. (Strange how shyness disspates when money is involved).
That said, I thought she was polite enough to the girl in that video. The guy was filming her, and while he can legally do that, it's just blatantly rude. -

I actually met KM after an L Word charity event a couple of years back. I loved her as Shane and was very excited to see and meet her. This was in the hotel bar several hours after the event. They were in a back corner and not surrounded by fans. I approached the table. Rose Rollins was exuberantly friendly. KM was not.
So, I can attest to the arrogant and haughty attitude of KM. It was very disappointing.
She did say Hi, but barely made eye contact and certainly wasn't interested in any fan interaction.
It is a shame. The fans come along with the fame. -

"I'd like to make it known that she personally responds to almost every message that she recieves from her fans - whether via facebook, twitter etc"
What? No, she doesn't. She never responded to a fan on twitter (although she occasionally does "thank you all" type things) and she doesn't even have a public facebook.
That said, I don't think her behavior in that video was all that bad and it doesn't particularly bother me that she doesn't reply to fans on twitterin fact, it kinda annoys me when celebs do that 'cause it creates unnecessary clutter that makes it harder to find tweets that are actually interesting haha. -

I'm no longer interested in meeting 'famous' people
ESPECIALLY
my idols, particularly for this exact situation.
Fact is, you can never know what to expect from the celb in question, and it can be
very
crushing if what you get in the interaction is a brush-off.
I feel for Obnoxious Video Guy's cousin, but just the same I don't hate on Katherine on account of the blow-off. The girl strikes me as intensely shy & private, and if there's anything I've learned from people is that some of the most shy & private types can come off as real jerks when you try to interact with 'em. Just the same, there
are
those who are basically (your favorite expletive 5b4here) but I think that's more rare.
Thank God for moments, though, when you do meet a celb you admire A LOT and they end up being really cool with you, & even take a moment to chat & act like they're someone you see every day. I've had that happen -

If I was at a newstand on a hot sunny day and two annoying individuals were giggling like school girls at me, i'd be stand-offish too. She doesn't appreciate her fans? Her fans don't seem to appreciate how to interact with someone they admire without gawking at them.

Totally agree, i think it was a lil out of order. Fans have made her who is she today, without them she would've have had a successful career. That's exactly how it is in show business. It takes 2 secs to take a pic with someone, and it means the world to a fan.
My friend saw Keanu Reeves yesterday (UK) while she was on a day out at go ape, this adventure parkhe was filming for his new movie. She screamed his name while she was up in the trees and he smiled and waved at her. It takes literally 2 secs to make someones day.
I just want to make it clear, i'm not a hater at all. I quite like Kate, shes a very cool actor. I'm sure she had good reasons not to sign/take pics, and less not forget that its human nature to behave how we dono ones perfect but a lil consideration goes a long way -

With your thinking then, if someone knocks on her door at 2AM she should come out and say hi as the fan DESERVES attention and to have their day made. That may sound silly but no more than your saying "fans made her who she is today" Nonsense Kate made who she is along with some breaks. I live in West Hollywood (WeHo) and see much more major stars than Kate and I ignore them as I know they dont want to be accosted by some "looney bin". Also Kate is extremely shy and ill at ease if she cant control the situation. Waving at some crazy in a tree is a bit diff from taking picture with someones arm draped over you.

Apparently you guys missed part 2 of that fan encounter. Completely disregarded her for yet a second time. Even her lesbian friend recognized the same fan from oh 3 minutes ago. She was waaay too busy s111cniffing the stratosphere to acknowledge a fan.
Miss Moenning is a hot broad but a stuck up one!
