Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Piers Morgan

There are a lot of reasons but to me I never believed his sincerity when he was asking sensitive questions. It seemed obvious to me he was just trying to stir up the pot. He thought he was being smart and coy but when you cross cultures you're easily exposed.

You're probably right, plus MSNBC and Fox just pummel CNN in Piers timeslot. From the start I never saw the appeal of Piers, I would just think "would America rather watch this guy instead of Larry King?" In the end, I guess America surely didn't.

How could he be sincere? Piers was all about Piers.
He asked the questions, and then he
          answered
those questions, shamelessly talking over every guest from start to finish in order to do so.
I'm sure the pro-gun lobby will be thrilled he's being overthrown (although his gun-control position I actually agreed with) but he came off like such a nasty, smarmy shmuck that it read on camera totally.
Made more obvious, of course, by the fact no one was allowed to talk but
          him
          .
Sadly, that's been the pattern in the media in recent years: guests are props, and the interviewer's ego is the star.
          Non-sequiturs are delicious.

All talk esp talk radio has a very old demo. I don't know how you make that work for you (ads are a problem) unless you are selling meds?
I don't think it's a US TV thing. I really can't think of anyone who can be a success unless it's a RW nutjob and that audience has its own network (now).
I heard a rumor, they say you got a broken heart
