Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Naoko Mori

You know, Naoko turning in the best performance of the whole 2 seasons of Torchwood out of the entire cast only makes it clear just how underused she really was across the board in that series. I don't agree at all with the reasoning that her character had run it's course. I can hope that perhaps there is something lined up for her in Torchwood season 3 that they are not disclosing and that she didn't simply get written out because she deserves better treatment as an actress and a person. Listening to her interview on financial radio recently she is a whole lot of giggly, geeky fun.
If Naoko ever reads her board much here, which I doubt, thanks girlie for one of the best TV performances I've seen in years. Me love you long time (even though actors shouldn't read stuff on the internet about themselves, for the sake of their emotional sanity because, well..generally fanboy people are really straaaange and can be unusually meaaaan.)
P.S And ok we already know she's exceedingly beautiful you suck ups, especially when you see her running and trying not to fall over on those high heels the Torchwood wardrobe dept. kept sticking on her.

If you can, check out the 2005 BBC docu-drama Hiroshima. Naoko plays one of the survivors of the first atom bomb who loses her entire family and is powerless to stop it. It's a devastating role in her scenes and again shows her emotional acting range.
Maybe the producers and Chris Chibnall writing her out of Torchwood have actually done her this big favour in the long run. It's left Naoko up in the air for immediate work but Torchwood is a relatively popular show on BBC America so the exposure perhaps will lead to roles in the States (she said she wants to move back to the U.S in recent interviews) and give her the increasing fame she completely deserves.
We'll miss her on UK stage and television though.

I hope to see that. The Atomic bombing of Japan was one of the worst crimes against humanityno it was THE worst and Truman is a war criminal who should be remembered as one.
