I read once that Morrison said something to Joplin that hurt her feelings, and she threw a drink at him.
It's true that Morrison slept with Grace Slick. Grace doesn't look too Slick anymore, but she was HOT back then.

FALSE… Grace said on The Rosanne Barr talk show that her publisher paid her 1 million to lie. What a phony!

You wouldn't be wrong to think they didbut you wouldn't be right either.
They were never on great terms and she wasn't his type to begin with.
Am I the authority on this matter? Absolutely not.
But I was around enough to know the low down. -

I think this is where that rumor came from:
David Crosby said in an interview that he was at a Hollywood party once with Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin. He said Morrison was drunk and acting like an beep and everyone was getting annoyed. Jim then came up to Janis and and she was trying to be nice but he started talking nasty to her. He was saying things that were pretty upsetting. Janis got so mad that she hit him in the head with her trademark Southern Comfort. The bottle shattered and knocked him out cold. Everyone was so happy she did it that they just left him there on the floor and continued the party. I'm pretty sure you can find that interview on youtube somewhere. Crosby also said he thought Morrison was overrated and not a well skilled poet. -

Morrison wrote simplistic wordplay. His poetry was no better than a schoolboys. His lyrics were much better..particularly on their earlier albums. He did create some lyrically beautiful songs in my opinion but the imagery he created was better suited to song than it was to poetry. Even still I wouldnt call him a genius songwriter. He was merely good in my opinion. Also I dont know why he said that to Joplin if he did. She was a more talented blues singer than him after all.

That is close to what I heard. I heard Jim and Janis were both attending a Jimi Hendrix concert. Jim was drunk and obnoxious. He went up close to the stage and screamed that he wanted to blow Hendrix. Janis was trying to get Jim to mellow out. Jimi saw the altercation and tried to break it up. The three of them ended up in a tussle. There was fur, feathers, leather and dust flying everywhere. It was quite a site. Then Janis accidentally knocked out Jim with a bottle of Southern Comfort.
