No wonder John Lennon and Keith Richards were great friends.
And Keith always worked out release dates with John.
And Pete Townshend and Keith Moon both complemented The Beatles.
And Ray Manzerick had claimed that Jim liked a few of The Beatles albums.

i doubt jim morrison hated zeppelin.i heard when zeppelin opened the show in seattle, jim and robert plant met.jim, along with elvis, was a big influence on plant.if you listen to his vocals and see his stage performances, there is a definite comparison to jim and roger daltrey of the who.both bands were fantastic either way and were a huge influence on future rock bands

A lot of you people are really intolerant of others music tastes. Why can't it be possible to like both the music and the lyrics of Led Zeppelin and The Doors? I think both bands were brilliant.
P.S. I like The Beatles

The Doors never covered Stairway. The cover that's on you tube is by an Australian Doors tribute band. Jim didn't like Zeppelin but Page and Plant liked the Doors. Zeppelin covered Light My Fire at least once during an extended Whole Lotta Love, the verison that circulates is I believe from the 1988 reunion for Atlantic records' 40th anniversary.
Jim did say in 1969 that he liked Pink Floyd which suggests to me he either heard them or saw them while in Europe in 1968, saw them at the Fillmore or saw the film More and got a hold of the soundtrack. -

Led Zeppelin's debut album came out in early 1969 and created quite a buzz. The Doors had released three albums at this point. Maybe Jim was a little jealous of the attention Zeppelin received. Maybe there was a personal rivalry. When Zeppelin was in L.A. they set up camp at The Whiskey and were very popular with the ladies.
