I was lucky enuogh to visit Jims grave earlier this year.
I got to say it was a very moving experience. Im 34 now & have been into the doors music from the age of 15.
I was suprised how affected i actually was! My all time fav singer/idol is ELVIS PRESLEY -( a huge influence of jims. ) As yet I have not been to graceland to visit THE KING. But its on my list.
Any 1 else bin to see Jims final resting place & how did you find it?

Hi, I went to Jim's grave around my 32nd birthday (3years ago)with my mother and we also went to see the apartment in Rue Beautreillis where he is alleged to have died. I found both places really interesting and really enjoyed my stay in Paris. When I went it was'nt very crowded. Due to the increased security there now you fell a lot safer plus there dos'nt seem to be any more vandalism which is great as it dos'nt seem to atract the wrong sort of people like prostitutes and drug dealers. I can remember feeling very downhearted in the 90's when it was announced in the press that it was a real possibility that Jim was going to be moved. Fortunately he was'nt and I got see his resting place in the great Pere Lachaise cematery I also saw the graves of Oscar Wilde, Edith Piaf's Chopin, and Molliere. It is a great place to go on a sunny day!!!! although I think it would also look really nice on a snowy day too. I wanted to go since I was 17/18 back in 1991. I must confess it did'nt affect me as much I thought it would which was quite strange as the end of the Oliver Stone movie always made me cry!!!! Perhaps I got a little tougher as I got older. I really enjoyed my time in Paris, so much so that I am trying to save up to go again. I would recommend Pere Lachaise to anyone visiting Paris (not just because of the fact of Jim being buried there but also because I think it is such an interesting place!!!! I too like Elvis Presley's music, and also Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane.

I went there five years ago or so. I was about twenty four at the time, and it was something I'd wanted to do since my teens. By the time I made it there I was listening to a huge variety of music, so though I still loved, and still love, The Doors, my passion for them wasn't as intense and all encompassing as it had been way back when. I was glad I went, I found it to be a saddening experience, but one in a beautiful and memorable setting, and one which came up as a part of a weekend in Paris which I'll always remember as one of my happiest times. I won't go back, unless I'm with someone else who wishes to see Jim Morrison's grave, there's no need. I've fulfilled my duty to my teenage self.
