Oh yes I am annoyed by them, but I have to admit why I started liking The Doors before I go on, I liked a guy in Jr. high who liked them. I wanted something to talk about with him. For that, I looked to The Doors. I was raised on the Doors, my dad had CD's of them so barrowed (stole) them from him. I liked them before then but just didn't get them esp. Jim. Jim was just some dead guy to me, but as I started to listen and look at him, I mean really look, past the rock god front, I saw the poet, the genius, and the very lonely man that I believe he was though out his life. Jim was so much more than what most people see, because they don't look, they never know. I was one of those people at first, now after reading many books about him and by him, listening to and watching the performances; seven almost eight years later Im still in love with the band and Jim. I was 12 when I meet that boy who liked The Doors and I was the girl who thought they were just some band that played way too much on the oldies station. Now Im 19 and see Jim for what he really was; the rock rebel, the genius with an IQ of 149, and what he really wanted the world to see him as, a real poet.

I guess I better throw out my lone Doors shirt, and my Metallica shirts because I don't want to be viewed as some kid that wears it to be cool. And most importantly I better stop learning Doors stuff on the guitar. Oh hell I better stop playing guitar all together becuase I am not creative enough to come up with my own stuff.
Yes I listen to Light My Fire, Break on Through, and Riders on the Storm becuase they are good songs. But I also listen to songs like L'America, Runnin Blue, and Back Door Man because they are also good songs. I listen to all of them, there is not one song I dislike.
And for whoever said it earlier about the bass player. They used a bass player in the studio then Ray played it on the keyboard for performances.
I have been listening to this music since I was a little kid. I'm 17 now and will be 18 in a couple months. And if I want to wear a Doors shirt, or any other band for that matter I am going to. I really don't care what someone else thinks about. It's an expression of who I am and what I like.
      There I've said my piece.
Drink up, Shoot in, Let the beatings begin.

It comes with the image. Any attractive "Rock Legend" is going to have a teeny bopperda0 fan base, especially in the later days. Kids will think themselves as "musically superior" over the 50 Cent fans, while flashing a Hot Topic bought t-shirt of a band from 38 years ago.

Jim put himself out there to be seen; many, many people see his photos and find him to be EXTREMELY attractive enough to sport clothing or post his photos. Teens are also still trying to find themselves, and you never know, they could be listening to his music or reading his stuff. Even if they aren't, like I said, Jim DID put himself in the public eye to be seen.
I DO, however, get annoyed at people who like someone such as Paris Hilton, yet hide the fact that they do. Or anyone else for that matter. Like what you want, damn. I suppose I have Jim's attitude on that.

I think that you all care way too much about irrelevant things. If you have to sit on here and cry about little kids wearing the shirts, you just need to stop. Don't worry about other people. Stop acting like you're protecting Jim and The Doors. You aren't.

I think people like you should chill out. NEVER assume what other people are thinking. You don't live in other people's minds. So live your OWN lifeif you love The Doors and Jim Morrison's poetry than thats great, as many do. Everyone is ENTITLED to their own opinions.. But you shouldn't put anybody else down because THEY also like The Doors/Jim Morrison. You're totally right, you ARE 15..and stop preaching to the choirmost of us have already learned about Jim Morrison's life and appreciate what was lost and what was his beautiful talent. Sorry that you feel so much hatred for other people that love Jim Morrison that you need to take it out on the boards.

well I'm 19 and Jim is the reason I started reading poetry, and thank god there is a 15 year old that understands him 5b4on a deeper level than most nowadays, the thing the sucks is everyone will remember him as the drunk not the poet he was! "in vino veritas" any one? And blame the hot topic kids, are they the ones you're talking about, I just hope some day, he'll get more recognition for his poetry I can dream can I?
oh, and "in vino veritas" means, atleast In wine is the truth, I could be wrong

I'm almost 30 and I am not at all annoyed by teens who are wearing The Doors t-shirts and listen to their music. It just proves that their music is indeed timeless and there still are teens who'se taste and aesthetics haven't been completely corrupted by overcommercial crap on MTV.
And whenever I listen to The Doors I want light one up. I can't help it. But it enhances the experience. 🙂
And I don't understand how someone could say that a punk rocker or a metalhead couldn't be a true fan of The Doors and Jim Morrison? Most punks and metalheads I know are fans of them as well including myself. I am a heavy metal musician and listen to The Doors almost daily basis. Along with Black Sabbath they are my biggest musical inspiration.

I don't have much to say about the young people in Morrison shirts cause for a while I was myself. I began just being a casual Doors fan, only knowing their big hits and only having read No One Here Gets Out Alive, in my early teens I loved reading about the image of the crazy rebel that book portrays.
What changed for me was when I then listened to the actual Doors studio albums and read books that painted a fuller picture of Jim Morrison, especially Densmore's autobiography. I went from someone who just knew the hits and the commonly sold image of Jim to a hardcore fan of the Doors' music and of Jim as a complex creative person, which is what I remained since.

I'am 14 years old. I absolutely love and admire Jim Morrison, but for his intelligence, true appreciation of art in every way, and overall depth, NOT his alcoholism, drug use and abuse, and wild and radical stage persona. Jim was a martyr. He was willing to suffer for his art. He would rather die than have his book of poetry ignited, I'm sure.
As far as the posers go, they're stupid. They can never relate to Morrison in any way at all. Lets just let them pretend that they can.
