I think people like you should chill out. NEVER assume what other people are thinking. You don't live in other people's minds. So live your OWN lifeif you love The Doors and Jim Morrison's poetry than thats great, as many do. Everyone is ENTITLED to their own opinions.. But you shouldn't put anybody else down because THEY also like The Doors/Jim Morrison. You're totally right, you ARE 15..and stop preaching to the choirmost of us have already learned about Jim Morrison's life and appreciate what was lost and what was his beautiful talent. Sorry that you feel so much hatred for other people that love Jim Morrison that you need to take it out on the boards.

well I'm 19 and Jim is the reason I started reading poetry, and thank god there is a 15 year old that understands him 5b4on a deeper level than most nowadays, the thing the sucks is everyone will remember him as the drunk not the poet he was! "in vino veritas" any one? And blame the hot topic kids, are they the ones you're talking about, I just hope some day, he'll get more recognition for his poetry I can dream can I?
oh, and "in vino veritas" means, atleast In wine is the truth, I could be wrong -

I'm almost 30 and I am not at all annoyed by teens who are wearing The Doors t-shirts and listen to their music. It just proves that their music is indeed timeless and there still are teens who'se taste and aesthetics haven't been completely corrupted by overcommercial crap on MTV.
And whenever I listen to The Doors I want light one up. I can't help it. But it enhances the experience.
And I don't understand how someone could say that a punk rocker or a metalhead couldn't be a true fan of The Doors and Jim Morrison? Most punks and metalheads I know are fans of them as well including myself. I am a heavy metal musician and listen to The Doors almost daily basis. Along with Black Sabbath they are my biggest musical inspiration. -

I don't have much to say about the young people in Morrison shirts cause for a while I was myself. I began just being a casual Doors fan, only knowing their big hits and only having read No One Here Gets Out Alive, in my early teens I loved reading about the image of the crazy rebel that book portrays.
What changed for me was when I then listened to the actual Doors studio albums and read books that painted a fuller picture of Jim Morrison, especially Densmore's autobiography. I went from someone who just knew the hits and the commonly sold image of Jim to a hardcore fan of the Doors' music and of Jim as a complex creative person, which is what I remained since. -

I'am 14 years old. I absolutely love and admire Jim Morrison, but for his intelligence, true appreciation of art in every way, and overall depth, NOT his alcoholism, drug use and abuse, and wild and radical stage persona. Jim was a martyr. He was willing to suffer for his art. He would rather die than have his book of poetry ignited, I'm sure.
As far as the posers go, they're stupid. They can never relate to Morrison in any way at all. Lets just let them pretend that they can. -

yes, they do. i hate little punks like that. they wear doors t shirts just because its "urban" or "vintage" and then they listen to rap and "panic! at the disco" without opening there minds to true music like the kind the doors made. its pathetic.

True story: This guy I know works with a girl who wears a shirt with jim on it and she had no idea who he was. It says Hello I Love You on it and she had no idea that that was a song. She said that she just got it because she thought it looked cool.

I am a 17 female and i see people my age all the time wearing The Doors shirts and if i ask them what do you think of this song..? what do you think these lyrics mean? they are like what? and that annoys me too but who cares it is their loss.
Don't let those 'punks' get to you.
It is a free world and people wearing his shirts should be the least of your worries at 15yo anyway.. -

ITT: butthurt kids who think Jim Morrison is THEIRS dammit, and you can only like him if you've listened to all of his studio albums ten times apiece, and done complete analyses on at least fifteen of his poems, and read at least three of his biographies - and not that No One Here Gets Out Alive propaganda crap, either.
When you're done bragging about how you like an artist who's been dead for forty years and about how you really "know" him and "relate" to him, and grow up a little, you'll realize you're being pretentious little cocks. He WAS a rock star. He may've been a poet, but he was first a rock star, and he DOES represent many of the punk ideals - rebelliousness, a love of partying, random sex with random women, drugs and alc5b4ohol, etc. Maybe he got tired of fame later on, but I'm sure he didn't regret getting filthy beep rich from it.
So what if a girl wears a Jim Morrison shirt because she thinks he's hot? Who the beep cares? Do I wear Nike shoes because I just think they look cool, or should I read a couple of books about them and write a ten-page report before I DARE to put them on?
You're talking about how you don't like him to be viewed as a "god." Don't you realize you're idolizing him WAY more than these other kids? You're acting just like the literary elitists who spend their time trying to tell people what authors they can and cannot read.

i think there is a bit of hypocrisy. everything jim and the doors supposedly stood for is destroyed w/ every piece of merchandise manufactured. god bless densmore for being the only door w/ any kind of principle. ray and robbie are sell outs, jim is dead and even if he were alive its very likely hed be a sell out too. like the rolling stones.
