Hi Blastedparrot,
I was watching "How To Succeed In Business (Without Really Trying" last night. I was 14 years old when that film was made. I laughed throughout the film. It's a good thing I had taped it as I was rewinding to catch parts I laughed over.
Where in Florida does he live? It's nice to see that he is in good health & spirits. How lucky you are to have had the honor of meeting him and getting to play one of his most memorable roles.
Take care & thanks for the info,

Dear Gail Snail,
Robert Morse lives in Sherman Oaks, California, with his wife Libby and their two young children a boy and a girl. As Blastedparrot correctly wrote, he was performing at the Parker Playhouse in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, in "The Great American Follies."
Bobby is 74 years old now and takes on occassional projects, i.e., he was the original Wizard in "Wicked" (the Broadway show) when it previewed in San Francisco, but he did not want to leave his family for a two year commitment, so he didn't move with the show to NYC.
If you really want to see Bobby's versatility, you should seek out the tape/CD of "Tru," the one man show in which he portrayed Truman Capote.
Hope you continue your interest in Robert Morse, a truely incredible performer.
Yours,

Well, I'm certainly glad to hear that Bobby is doing well! I've been a huge fan since the 60's, and got to see him and Rudy Vallee doing "Succeed" on the summer stock circuit. Also saw him at the Tony Awards in '71 (25th anniversary, where he sang I Believe in You), and also got to see him on stage in Tru. You're right, moeds3277, he is just absolutely amazing in the part of Truman Capote. He's also delightful as Barnaby in The Matchmaker.
I just wish they'd release his undervalued, but splendid series, That's Life! on DVD. Seems a shame that it would disappear like it has, but I have hope!
If someone here really does know him, as he said in a post, please let him know that he's definitely not forgotten, and I wish I could see more of him, and give him my very, very best!
Regards,
Cot -

I lived in NYC at the time TRU was on BroadwayI went to the stage door to wait for an autograph and he invited my friend and I to the dressing roomhe sat and talked with us and was very friendly..I too was an actor and just finished a tour as Frump. He signed a few playbills for me and introduced me to Tony Randall and Paul Shaffer who walked in afterwards. It is a memory I will never forget. I only wish he worked more as he is one fantastic performer. A very down to earth guy!!! I wish him the best. ghstlght@yahoo.com

There is a new collector's edition recording of the original cast album" of "How To Succeed" out- I just bought it yesterday and am loving it. I had totally forgotten about That's Life" but I used to love that show. Fro aswhile, it made me want to be an actor- unfortunately, I ended up as a doctor instead. How wonderful to hear that MR. Morse is a nice down-to-earth guy!

Very interesting. "Robin Williams on speed"- that really is hyper.
Abstinence is a good thing- it saves a lot of problems and heartbreak later, so good for both of you.
I wonder if he has slowed down at all as he's gotten older. -

Yes, he plays Mr. Cooper, the better half of the "good cop, bad cop" partners who run the Sterling Cooper advertising agency of which the series relolves about. He's only appeared in two episodes that I've seen so far, and plays a somewhat eccentric chairman of the board type who is still cares about the business, but doesn't like to get involved with the daily tedium.
I heard about the show about a month ago during an interview with its creator of the show on NPR, TiVo'd it that night and have been hooked ever since.
One role that impressed me was where he played Cupid (yes, the Roman god) in an episode of the Twilight Zone, (not the original, but the "next generation" produced in the mid eighties). He appeared as a well dressed middle aged man in Manhattan who would wave his hand like a Jedi enticing any couple on the street to fall in love. However, when a particular couple didn't seem to be interested, he got rather irked and made the guy's life hell. -

Ye Gods, the one where Bobby plays Cupid, is one of my favorite 80s version Twilight Zone episodes. A sad one called, If She dies, comes right before it. I'd love to read the original script for both of them.
There is a book with some of the scripts in short story form, but If She Dies and Ye Gods aren't in it.
