      Janet's father was Scottish and her Mother English and she was born in Blackpool Lancashire. However her Great Grand Mother (Susan Newlands) was born in Dublin so I guess that would have qualified Janet to play for the Republic of Ireland International Soccer Team..!!!!

              No, nothing makes sense, any sense at all, anymore. :o(
              The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
              The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
              The best lack all conviction, while the worst
              Are full of passionate intensity. Yeats, "The Second Coming"
              And I stood where I did be; for there was no more use to run; And again I lookt with my hope gone.

                On the commentary of The Day the Earth Caught Fire, director Val Guest said, that Janet Munro died in a boating accident. Apparently, she was an item with Ian Hendry, and they were heavy drinkers. They got into a boating accident , and they were too drunk to save each other let alone themselves. Ian Hendry was stronger of the two, and he survived and Janet Munro didn't.

                  She was actually married to Ian Hendry and they had 2 kids together. Every thing I've read on her says that she died of myocarditis. This is a common side effect from alcoholism.
                  Myocarditis is the inflammation of the heart muscle. When it becomes inflamed, the heart cant' pump blood properly and eventually the person will probably die.
                  The boating accident I've never heard of and it could have been just to protect her too.
                  There are many sexy photos of Janet who was one of the first to have to deal with the child star syndrome. After her disney run and having her kids, it was near impossible for her to shake her image.
                  She was a fun person to watch on the big screen and has and will always be missed.

                    Not True. There was no boat5b4ing accident with Ian. Ian and Janet were divorced for a year before her death in December 1972.
                    Janet WAS involved in a Boating accident many years earlier when she was rowing from her house on Pharaoh's Island near Shepperton on the River Thames ..to the mainland, when the boat captized and she was wept downstream to Teddington Lock. Some reports at the time suggested attempted suicide but it was just an accident and Janet recovered quickly.
                    Her eventual death was as a result of Acute Myocarditis.

                          The most accurate diagnoses are either acute myocarditis or a heart attack caused by chronic ischaemic heart disease. Take your pick.

                            Probably her choking aggravated her heart problem to cause her death.
                            What's this about a "false rumor" now of the choking?
