Sam Kinsion was also consider for the part of Al Bundy but was thought to be too controversial.
But not too controversial to appear as a guest star later on the show.

Red Foreman was a veteran of Korea, true. Al Bundy was a great Fullback for Polk High, also true. Both men at the time were 20 years past said events.
Al was never drafted to Vietnam despite graduating Polk High in 1966 and not even using college deferment but I think he would have gave charlie a fight. He probably would have hit the jungle with a "First down! Starting the drive 111con the 25 yard line!" mentality.
(DON'T FORGET! Bundy joined the National Gaurd so both men are veterans)
Al's got a bigger frame and retard strength. He probably would have layed a smackdown on that ass.
Probably would have started like this:
Foreman:
"Bundy! I'm gonna stick my foot up your ass!"
Bundy:
"Let's Rock"
Yeah yeah I know i sound partial to Al but hey it's his board.
Bet I'm only Marine that took a Bundy #33 jersey to Afghanistan with me. -

I agree with the poster who argued Red was all talk. He never went up against anyone big and tough. He bullied a bunch of punkass teenagers who weighed less than Al soaking wet. In a one on one fight with no rifle to shoot Al would whip his ass.

Al would clearly win this match, i dont even know why its even a question? Ed's been training with Gracie Brazilian jujitsu for about 15 years now, hes is now a black belt.He began training since married with children. I wouldnt doubt he'd choke Red out in under 30 seconds having squealing like a pig.lol

Honestly, I believe that even though Red was more intimidating, I can see both him and Al going at it, fist-to-fist'! And when it's over, they both will pop open a beer and shoot the sh*t with one another. My opinion only.

Aside from the fact they'd likely never fight because they view the world so similarly, let's say they did. Al wins. Why?
- No doubt Red was a great soldier. But Al has been shown time and again to not only be a great fist-fighter but absolutely willing to fight dirty.
- As was shown many times, no matter how they treated each other, you **** with one Bundy you **** with all the Bundys. This would not be a one-on-one fight, and Red has no backup but a retarded neighbor.

You bring to mind a great thought - Bundy's vs. Forman's. As long as the fights are from about 4-5 "Married" seasons in (otherwise the Bundy kids were too young) I think it would be a clean sweep. -

It would start off as Red vs Al then Kelly would run in, then Laurie would jump in on her Followed by Bud and Eric then Kitty and Peg would start going at it.
In the end I think Laure pulls Eric off of Bud and they run off together
Red knocks Al out and Kitty knocks Peg out.
Kelly tries to flirt with Red then Kitty knocks that little slut out before walking off into the sunset with her man.
Maybe Kelly slaps Eric around at some point too after he fails to flirt with her, or her Donna steps in before walking off with HER man. haha
Kelly ends up with Kelso later.
