It kind of looks like a young Ed O'Neill. My video Hound Horror Show book says he is in it. I believe Leonard Maltin even said he was in it. Well it isn't listed on his credits on this board.

Definitely Ed in Deliverance. They missed it on imdb obviously.

I agree about the nose looking different. Ed O'Neill has a much wider nose. Also, Ed O'Neill would have been a lot taller than a 5'7'' Ned Beatty. The guy is the photo only has about 2 inches on him. Plus, the deputy looks older than 26 years old, which would have been Ed O'Neill's age at the time Deliverance was filmed. But the mouth looks astonishingly the same.

It looks exactly like him only younger and blonder. I don't see why Ed doesn't say one way or the other if it's him or not. Has anyone ever asked him? Or can someone show where Ed was in 1972 to prove it wasn't him?

I dunno, eyebrows usually lighten with age, not the other way round. His hair is a different colour too.

Best evidence indicates that the deputy at th111ce end of the film is Lewis Crone, who, if I found the right person, died in 1988. Ken Keener, who played the taller deputy, is still living. Macon McCalman played Deputy Arthur Queen, who is seen telling Ned Beatty that Beatty had been lying about what had happened.

I think it is Ed O'Neil. The eyes are the same. The nose is smaller; looks like it was broken at some point after. PS - he was a football player, maybe he busted his noggin after this film was made.

There is a thread on this board with a video, Ed O'Neil himself is saying he was not in Deliverance. it's just an actor that looked a lot like him.

Yep, and he's said in interviews that he was not in it, and is bemused by the fact that so many places include Deliverance when listing his credits.

Just saw a show called inside mma and he was saying that he was not in it. One of his fav movies tho.

Director John Boorman says that he used all locals for the small roles. The guy's much shorter than Ed.
