Anyone find that weird that he is gracing magazine covers and giving more television interviews for Modern Family than he did when he was on Married With Children, the show he is most known for?

No because back in the late 1980s and 1990s American society more conservative about sex. Married With Children was a very sexually charged show on FOX extremely controversial. The feminists hated the show and so did the political conservatives.
But Modern Family, is so 21st century, it is considered a more progressive kind of show. -

Well, what venusebony said on top of the fact that, even in regular cable subscriptions, there was a vast majority of America that did not pick up FOX when MWC was on (we were lucky!) The show kind of 'made' FOX because of its' cult status due to the controversy surrounding the subject matter. I'm happy to see all the new found interest in MWC I was with the show from the jump and it just got better and better! I love "Modern Family" too, but I wasn't with it from the jump for the opposite reason too many channels! I'm not even sure where MF is, I just watch it in syndication.

I love both shows but MWC >> MF. As someone said MWC wasn't your typical show for the 80s and 90s so noone gave it publicity unless it was for controversy. It was something very different and had topics that weren't popular to be talked on TV. That's why it has such a strong cult following still many years after it ended, just like The X-Files.
