her Silent No More campaign

She didn't say that Jennifer was asked about that at EVERY interview. Most directors already know her stance on abortion because she's spoken openly about it at pro-life demonstrations and the "theatre and film world" generally oppose her views. All it would take is one person involved with a film to know about her views and it's likely that everyone would wind up knowing about it. I don't think being pro-life is probably a deal breaker but it sure doesn't help in that community. I've read that Patricia Heaton has dealt with that same kind of hostility because of her views about the taking of innocent life.

The fact is, whether an actress if pro-choice or not would never come up in a work situation unless she were a zeleat who could not stop prosthelatizing her religious viewsa rather unprofessional, not to mention tasteless, thing to do.
The topic has to do with personal choice. If she keeps her personal views to herself, she'll be fine. The mystifying thing is why the OP thinks the topic would ever be raised. -

It doesn't have to come up in a work situation if people involved with the production already know of her views. Many would hold that against her even if she never talked about it on the set. I know that she's spoken about abortion in marches in Washington. So the point is that many in the film/theater world know of her views before she even steps in the door-and that could hurt her chances in getting a part. And one can hold a pro-life position even if they are an atheist. It doesn't require any religion at all, though many simplify the issue by equating a pro-life position with religious zealotry.

The OP wasn't asking how JENNIFER O'NEILL found work while holding her views on abortion, she was asking how SHE (the OP) could make a career in the entertainment industry work while being against abortion. Since no one knows who this OP is in Hollywood, and she would beginning her career, no one is going to know her views unless she spouts off about them at work. She is an unknown.
<< And one can hold a pro-life position even if they are an atheist. >>
OkayI guess you might be able to find 5 female atheists who also believe a woman's legal right to abortion should be taken away from her. It does take all kinds, after all.
The reason Jennifer O'Neill doesn't work is because while she has been touching in a few roles, her main draw was her enormous beauty, not her acting ability. As time has passed, the scarce character roles in her age range have gone to actresses with better technique and stronger marquee namesnot because she speaks at rallies protesting abortion. If she were a truly great actress, no one would care. -

Why do you use such loaded words as "spouts off"? Shouldn't she be allowed to share her opinion with others? If the subject comes up, should she keep her views to herself?
I read an article about Patricia Heaton that revealed that there was a lot of ill will felt towards her because of her stance on abortion. Has it hurt her career? I don't know. But I doubt it has helped her. It's possible that those making the hiring decisions won't be as likely to hold her opinions against her as those with whom she will be working, but a work environment of hostility could become disheartening for her.
More than five female atheists I know of believe that the unborn have a right to life (or a right to not be killed). One can make a strong argument for the rights of the unborn while leaving religion out of it altogether.
Jennifer O'Neill's career probably hasn't been hurt by her views on abortion and your assessment of why she hasn't gotten more work is probably true. I don't think her views became widely known until she was at an age when the job offers would have probably started to dry up, anyway. I've only seen her in "The Summer of '42" so my knowledge of her acting ability is based solely on that performance, which I did think was touching. Hermie was a lucky guy, even if what happened between them WAS statutory rape.

No, I've not experienced it for myself, but here is what others say:

Jim Caviezel
Caviezel is a devout Catholic and conservative who claims he's been "blacklisted" after portraying Jesus in Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ.

None of your links show proof either as they are all personal opinions from individuals not a consortium or large group of self-styled "Conservatives". As for Jim Caviezel, he has done movies AFTER PotC and he has a CBS (Lib Network supposedly) show debuting this fall season, so that story holds no water.
It's like anyone can argue the converse and say that Liberals are black listed from Hollywood because when's the last time flagrantly liberal actors like Mike Farrell, Ed Begley Jr., Jeanine Garofalo, or Rosie O'Donnell have been getting big Hollywood movie parts? Hmmm?
Sean Penn may be openly Liberal, but Jon Voigt, Tom Selleck, Gary Sinise, Patricia Heaton, and Robert Duvall (to name a few) are just as openly Conservative and they're on TV and in film quite a lot lately.
I think you're just trying to use your political persuasion as a crutch rather than defending your positions. You also like to accuse others of "generalizing" but your entire position on Conservatives in Hollywood is based on an over-generalized assumption itself. If you asked me it's more likely the quality of the writing and/or acting that bars people OF ANY POLITICAL/RELIGIOUS PERSUASION from getting work, and producers are looking to see which makes more money at the box office.

She sounds like someone with no education, who naturally fell into a lot of stupid behavior (16 abortions, sexual absue of her daughter, 9 marriages) and then required a make-believe deity to rescue her from her own feebleness. Sweetie you're a mess.

Jannifer O'Neill had admitted to having at least one abortion. She is alive today, because she had a CLEAN abortioni.e. medical care. It just amazes me how women who themselves have benefitted from proper medical care for THEIR abortions, can turn around and try to make it illegal for OTHER women. I was a very naive 17-year old Catholic when I went on my first job, as a medical office assistant to a Catholic gynecologist, who was also, Catholic and hispanic. She had a huge patient list. Her (mostly lower income and lower-educated, socio-economic class) patients had scarred cervixes and horrible complications from their own efforts to control their rate of reproduction. They mostly had a number of children and Catholic husbands who, of course, did not believe in birth control. The one non-hispanic, educated "caucasian" patient this physician had, had survived her own abortion (this is in 1967 before abortion was legalized) because she had the money, family and resources to fly to SWEDEN to have a "legal" abortion there. Before you write adulatory remarks about a woman who consistently lies about her age, her number of abortions (she got around, folks) and probably everything else, including who provided the funding for her cosmetics line (she started it about the same time she began her latest incarnation as a "pro life" spokesperson) you should do a little research. Jennifer O'Neill, sincere right to lifer? I don't think so. She knew people and had money to get clean abortions, which is why she is alive today to be a Quisling(look it up) for the pro-life, Christian right.

Fundamentalist Christians tend to have a VERY double standard. That's why it's so publicly embarrasing (and inevitable) when they're invariably caught "sinning". They set the bar so high it's impossible to reach. -

"Look it up?" Wow. How presumptuous. Wish we could all be smart like you.
