Wow. Just wow.
This movie is about as funny as aggressive cancer. Seriously, it might warrant a chuckle or two if I was deeply, deeply baked and it was the only thing being screened on all 548 channels of cable. But otherwise all you Oedekerk praisers need to grow senses of humor. This movie sucks something fierce. Sorry to break the news to you.

Totally agree. Best Comedy Film Ever Made?! Ever Made?! You're entitled to your opinion but please, you're forgetting Mel Brooks movies(The Producers/Blazing Saddles etc), Christopher Guest movies (Spinal Tap/Best In Show etc), not to mention the Monty Pyton films, Marx brothers films, Airplane, Anchorman, Shaun of the Dead and so many, many more I could mention. The mere thought of Kung Pow being placed above all of those movies as 'The Best Comedy Film Ever Made' just makes me weep!

Thank you for introducing some sense of reality to this thread. Entering the Oedekerk threads is like jumping into an unknown planet.
You are correct is your statements regarding KP:ETF. It's awful and dumb. This should be obvious to all. Of course, you already knew that. Your screen name is enough evidence to back up your comments regarding comedies. Again, thank you.

That's the brutal thing about movie making. It takes just as much effort to write a good script as it does to write a bad one.
The amount of work put into making a horrible movie, as well as the amount of money and supplies would be just the same as making a good movie. The only things that are different are talent, skill and intelligence. Name the worst movie you ever saw.
Unless you said Andy Warhol's "Empire" the effort involved in making that film could have made a film that good. The money involved could have gone to a good writer and a good director.
When I imagine the amount of work they put into making Kung Pow it makes me uneasy.
As for the Kung Pow sucks/rules debate I stand near the middle. It has some funny 5b4bits (Let your anger be like a monkey in a pinata) , I will admit that, but a lot of it is lame. The cow fight and the Lion King parody are teeth grindingly bad.
It's not the worst comedy ever made, but it's not great. It's not event the worst comedy ever made by Steve Odekerk. Nutty Professor 2 was brutally unfunny after the first half hour. -

I find this film incredibly funny, despite the obvious high-brow humor crowd not being able to crack a smile at it. It definitely isn't your type of film if you want well-thought out jokes but it does cater to that sort of crowd that likes innate silliness. I mean, for goodness sake, they rename Master Pain Betty, there's a whale in the waterfall, and they purposely trained a guy wrongas a joke. Not everyone is going to react well to jokes that are a bit immature but honestly, one does not have to be baked or retarded to enjoy that type of humor. Different things make a variety of different people laugh, after all.
As for the best comedy ever; no, I wouldnt say that. Up there with some of my favorites, you betcha!
