I think NP is a pretty good actor, like in Bleak House he was awesome. But I watched Vanity Fair again recently and I just think he's bloody awful as Rawdon Crawley! I mean, this guy is meant to be super handsome, and NP is nowadays, but that moustache just made him look so seedy! What did everyone else think? I much prefer James Purefoy as Rawdon in the new movie, and thats just about the only good thing about it.

I'm the opposite again, I thought the moustache wasn't nice when I first saw it but after a while it led me into looking at his eyes more which are amazing and now I actually prefer it
I think it would put some people off by the sheer size of it and the fact that it was jet black.
I think NP fitted the part really well with regards to his acting. Much better than James Purefoy. More realistic anyway. I didn't like the 04 version.

I haven't seen the Little/Parker version of Vanity Fair in years, but I don't remember being put off by him at all (but then I'm a huge fan). On the other hand, I couldn't stand Purefoy as Rawdon (or Witherspoon as Becky).
