What a pity Rupert Penry-Jones didn't get this part. I saw an episode of The Forgotten in the fall and RPJ would have made it much more watchable!
I would love to see him in a US tv show.

The Forgotten is about to be canceled. They even axed the season finale. As much as I wanted Rupert to be in an American show, the show just isn't good enough and it wouldn't have lasted even with Rupert playing the lead.

Really? Not surprised though, it was pretty poor.
Do you think Rupert PJ would do well in a US show? I do, I hope he gets another chance soon.

I think he would, but perhaps not as a lead, because American audiences aren't that familiar with him yet. I think he would fit well into a show like "Flashforward" which has an ensemble cast. I would like to see him in the role Jack Davenport has (Simco), who's a good friend of Rupert's.

I've seen a few episodes of Flash Forward and didnt like Jack Davenport or his character much. HaHa. So he and Rupert PJ are friends? I love this board, it's so interesting.
I can see him in Flash Forward. What about Greys Anatomy? RPJ would make a good doctor. Yes? I have looked at his credits and I don't think he has played a doctor before.

I read that his accent in the Forgotten was terrible; so I tried to find it to see.
I did finally find itand I am sad to say that it was horrendous. It was as if he was struggling to find an accent. Poor baby!
I am glad that this did not pan out for him. It is not a good show and that would have not been a good start for him here in the US.

Oh yeas, the dreadful accent. Don't remind me. Made my hair stand up. (sorry Rupert)

Does anybody still have some clips of this? I just found out he was in the unaired pilot for this show. Admittedly, I pretty much just want to hear his American accent lol.

Finally found a clip of RPJ in this! Being American, I was very curious to hear what his American accent sounded like. I was expecting it to be horrendous, but it's not the worst I've heard. That being said, this clip is so short I can't really get an idea of what it is like overall. Here it is:
                        http://www.movieweb.com/tv/TEbwWfbhQRsHfc/they-never-found-her
Maybe if they had written the script to feature mostly words that don't sound very different in English accents (I'm thinking of words like "table" thanks to that scene in "Love Actually") he would have been OK 😉
I have to say I'm curious to see him play an American character now, he just needs more time to prepare the accent and a good scriptI think he could impress us. A role like that could help prevent him from being type cast as the ideal aristocratic Englishman (even in Whitechapel he seems to be playing this type of role). Don't get me wrong, I love roles like that, but I think it would be fun for him, and us, to see something wildly different from what he usually plays.
