He had the looks and the voice, but man he has really gotten fat as of late. To bad. Oh well; if he's happy I guess thats all that matters.

At the Walk of Fame ceremony in L.A. a year or so ago. Don't get me wrong he still looks good for his age; I hope I look half as good at 58 as he does. But, the button on his suit jacket looked like it was about to come apart at any second! He looked like he had put on about 40+ pounds, but he was quite slim up to about 50 years of age. He may well have lost the weight by now though, but I haven't seen him sinse.

Ike, have you seen Mick Jones of Foreigner, who is just a few years older than Steve (4 years)? He looks like the Pillsbury Dough Boy with goofy yellow hair, and the most ridiculous glasses that really belong on Bozo, the Clown! Mick, like Steve, used to be in GREAT Shape and never took a bad picture. Almost all the top Rockers from the 70s - late 80s, look like they have been Ridden Hard and Put Away Wet. Most used drugs and or alcohol for at least part of the time they were performing, and some, still do. Their lifestyles took an enormous toll on their bodies, and we really cannot expect them to look good when they are nearing5b4 60. Steve, in my opinion, looks nowhere near 60, and the extra girth, honestly, is not that bad. If anything, he was too thin, in his younger days.
Ike, don't be so hard on Steve,he really looks pretty good. And, he looks GREAT for nearing 60.
BTW, Mick apparently has lost weight since I last looked at his pictures. He slimmed down, quite a bit for his 2006 album. He still has not aged nearly as well, as Steve.

I don't mean to be hard on the guy, and yes; he does look good at 58, but at 5' 8" and what looks to be approximately 180 plus lbs that is allot and not healthy at all on his small frame. I work out with guys who are pushing 70 who although their skin does sag in places they are able to maintain a heathy weight and a relatively lean appearance. I don't know Steve's schedule or how busy he is, but I get the impression he has the time to hit the gym at least three days a week (assuming he doesn't already). At least he could watch what he eats, its important at any age. Again I'm no picture of health and I should be so lucky to look as good (or live as long), but I know he could look allot better than he does. Maybe that is not his priority right now and indulging and having fun is (more power to him). I know he is doing things that he wasn't allowed to do or didn't have time to do when he was with Journey.
Anyway Steve Perry is and always will be God's gift to rock and roll in my opinion. And that voice!!! No one can compare. Anyway sorry for the rant.

I see your point, Ike. I actually think you're probably right about the weight issue, and think your guess of 180, is actually LITE! Steve, likely is over 200, if your information on his height, at 5'8", is correct.
Take care!

Actually, 180 lb. isn't light but considered just above normal range for a 5'8" man. Steve turned 60 earlier this year. As you age, it is difficult to stay in shape but it is possible. You also don't know if he is dealing with any health problems.

That is not at ALL, what I said. When I said 180 was light, I was replying to another poster's comment (actually, the OP, Ike) where he/she was making an ESTIMATION or an educated guess of Steve's weight. I thought that their estimation of 180 was incorrect (Light) Based on his height and the recent photos; I thought that he appeared to be closer to 200 pounds. Further, I made no derogatory judgment of Steve's physical appearance, let alone weight.
In his prime, Steve was in good shape but tended to vear on the side of being too thin, at times. Today, Steve is carrying a little too much girth but still looks great; he's FAR from looking like he's let himself go. In my original reply, I stated "HE LOOKS GREAT, in response to Ike's comment, that Steve let himself go. In fact, I think my replies have been clear about my opinions of Steve's current appearance.
Also, countering my compliments and praise of Steve's appearance with the possibility that he maybe dealing with health issues doesn't make sense.
Based on your reply, I think you misunderstood my reply(ies).
