I recently sourced some of the TV movies she did in the 80's. I hadn't realised she was so thin at that time. At the beginning on Season 6 of the Bob Newhart Show she lost weight and a couple of episodes mentioned Emily exercising. She was even thinner in the early 80s - Fantasies, If Things Were Different, Hot Stuff, Dixie: Changing Habits right through to A Stranger Waits when she was 50. Harry Langdon took lots of pictures of her in lingerie at that time too so she must have been very happy with her body.lol.
She looks good either way IMO, it's just kind of odd because most people go the other direction and the weight creeps on after 40. She must have been exercising like crazy or on a super strict diet. -

Yes, she was thin in the 1980's, but she looked super hot. She looked more cute as Bob Newhart's wife Emily. My dad said she was too skinny when she played Emily! Men like a bit of meat on the bones.
She always had a really nice figure. Looking way back at her early films such as "Wall of Noise" and "A Rage To Live", she was super thin then too. I thinks she filled out some in her thirties, only to become ultra thin again in her 40's.
Either way - gorgeous! -

She was very thin for much of the 60s though. As thin as she was in the 80s for sure. I f2000ound this pic from the mid 60s as an example.

I was watching some of The Bob Newhart Show today after I heard of Mr. Carlin's passing and I noticed the weightloss in season 6 and came here to see if anyone else had noticed and posted about it. She was lucky that she looked great and kept her curves. Most people I know who get thin in their 40s look gaunt. I think it's a French saying that after 40 you have to choose between your ass or your face!
Just a thought but I would think if an actor gets steady work on a series they can relax a little and have some dessert. Suzanne dropped the weight at about the time she would have known the show was ending and she had to go back looking for work. -

That is funny, what the French say about the ass or the face.
I remember Vivien Leigh saying something like that in the movie, "Ship of Fools". That older women either get too fat or too thin - and isn't that the truth. We tend to think of post menopause as only being on the too fat side. But there is a subset, albeit a small one, that goes too skinny. -

I've only recently seen some of her really early work. I was doing an internship over the summer and sublet an apartment from a guy who had just about every episode of every TV show ever made. I was in hog heaven. Anyway, I def think Suzanne was one of the rare people who didn't peak physically until her 30s/40s. She was really cute in her early 20s but she was stunningly beautiful a decade+ later.
I also agree with redkites that her weight was the same in the mid 60s and the 80s. I watched an episode of Dr. Kildare where she changes out of a dress and she was very, very thin. I was watching with a friend and we had seen "The Birds" together at an outdoor screening the week before and she couldn't believe it was the same person at first. Her bone structure was off the chain when she was thin. -

I like your post - "I was in hog heaven."
Yeah, she was stunning - and don't shoot me, but probably more so when she was very skinny because like you say, the bone structure was right out there. However, she got too skinny from time to time. The price paid by actors and others.
Anyway, I'm glad you chose to watch some of Suzanne's films and t.v. work, especially with all there was to choose from! She was truly something very special.
