She hated him and constantly complained during the filming of "In Harm's Way".

Jill was a dear friend of mine and did say some nice things about him, crediting him for giving her a career. She did say he could be harsh. She told me John Wayne was much worse being the meanest and nastiest man she ever worked with. I do feel Otto also hurt her long-term career by denying her to make other films, as he signed her to a 3 picture contract, and didn't nurture her unique talent. Jill was a very beautiful and under-rated actress.
