I would bet money that the protocol still calls for checking for a carotid pulse only.
Clarification: for pediatric patients who meet the age requirement of "infant" the AHA calls out to assess for a brachial pulse. Addendum added 2-21-26.
The last time I renewed was probably three years ago, but at that time they were saying to spend no more than ten seconds assessing for a pulse, and then to administer compressions if unable to find a palpable pulse. -

This means that you are taking something which is wrong and believing it to be right
