Does anyone really know the reason why Freddie Prinze killed himself in front of his son Freddie Prinze Jr, what really

I believe I heard he reconciled with his wife after she (unbeknownst to him) had filed for divorce. The papers apparently arrived several weeks later, and it devistated him and sent him over the edge. I don't believe there wasn't a substantial lapse in time between the time he received the papers and when he killed himself in a drug-fueled rage.
I read an article several years ago about Freddie Prinze Jr., and he said that when the autopsy was done on his dad, the Medical Examiner found 4 Quaaludes in his system. If he hadn't been under the influence, he may have been more rational, and perhaps nothing would have happened. But, then again, perhaps being clear-headed then would have only prolonged the inevitable. Irregardless, hi2000s death left an unnecessary void in his son's life. I heard Freddie Jr.'s mom got a $400,000 settlement in what I believe was 1980 (maybe sooner, I read the article about this fact 3 years ago) from the psychiatrist that was treating him.
I think I have my facts in order.

Dear Allison,
Yes you do have your facts in order and thank-you for the post.Freddie's death was ruled accidental due to the prescription written for quaaludes by Freddie's doctor.Even though Maria(Freddie's mother)won the settlement and a judge over-ruled the cause of death from suicide to accidental, people still think the cause of death is suicide.Freddie under a clear frame of mind would not have pulled the trigger. He was in fact in an altered state of mind.
So in closing I would once again like to thank you for the facts that you posted Allison
Respectfully,

Looks like Freddie had a long history of being unstable, especially when it came to relationships with women. He had threatened to kill himself many times, often over failed relationships. He certainly didn't need to be under the influence of Quaaludes; as they make a depressed person even more depressed.
It just seems Freddie's problems were more with women and drugs than fame itself. Take away his problems with women and he'd prolly still be alive today.

Same could be said for George Reeves.Lenore Lemmonn and Toni Mannix twisted George every way but loose.Had he stayed celebit,or just had relationships with Phylis Coates or Noel Neill (Lois Lane)he might have lived past 1959. -

Today in spanish class we were watching a video about latino people who made a big mark for latinos in the entertainment business and of course Freddie Prinze was one of the latinos focused on.
They went in explaining how he started to do drugs and finally seperating from his wife he got worse by toying with a gun a lot and putting to his head and pulling the trigger without any bullets in the chamber. Telling his friends he's gonna die before he turns 30.
He was starting to take drugs to go to sleep and to wake up he took cocaine. He burned a hole in his naval cavity and (I dont know why they had to add this)he started taking the drugs anally. When he ran out of money from buying all these drugs and just completely couldnt handle it and they said he was with his manager or agent(someone) and shot himself infront of him.
So yeah I always new his dad killed himself, but like the video really graffically explain everything. I was just sitting their watching it and I just never knew it was that bad. -

I find it interesting that on his death certificate on findadeath.com, his ethnicity/race was entered as "Caucasian", which is actually half-true. His f2000ather was of German descent, his mother of Puerto Rican descent.

'His background', meaning what? Someone without pitch black skin?
It's irrelevant anyway, since even to this day a lot of date profile sheets categorize most Latin American descended individuals, whether light or dark(with exception of the 'pitch dark' mentioned above) as white/Caucasian this being most likely due to the whole pervading "white black or yellow" mindset wherein everyone
has
to be associated with only one thing. Doesn't make it accurate, nor justifiable. -

I took it to mean someone of mixed parentage. Nothing at all to do with the color of his skin.

I remember reading about how Joan Rivers noticed that he was doomed. She tried to urge him to go back to school or at least take some time off. Ir's sad he couldn't cope with the pressures of fame, drug use, and a failing marriage.
