I was in Cape May New Jersey a few days ago, and when I was walking down the street, I saw him walking by. I thought that was pretty cool, since I've seen a bunch of his movies.

he must own a house in Cape May. My wife and I were down there for a weekend getaway in November 2002 and we were looking for the concrete bottom boat that has been ship wrecked since the 1940's. We were driving around lost when I saw two men taking a walk. I rolled down my window to ask for directions and as the older man was telling me where to go I said "whoa you're the actor that played Rebecca Howe's father in Cheers, you were great in that! ( I'm a hugh Cheers fan)'. He smiled and kinda thought about it and said yeah I was in Cheers and he then told me that he was Kirstie Alley father in Veronica's Closet. He introduce himself and his son and they just seem to be geniune nice people. It was a pleasure meeting them both. Plus the directions he gave us took us right to the ship wreck, lol. The rest of the weekend my wife and I were remembering all the movies he was in. He has an impressive film resume and here I am telling how great he was in an episode of a tv show long forgotten (the episode, not the show). BTW he was awesome in that show, very funny as the admiral who visits Cheers!.

Yes, sadly he is.though that has little bearing on 5b4the discussion and reminiscences that made up this thread.

Met and played opposite Bob years ago in the 50s in New Hampshire for several stock seasons. Great and fun guy. We did father and son roles (he the father and I the son) like DEATH OF A SALESMAN, CAT ON A HOT TINE ROOF. He was Vandergelder to my Cornelius in MATCHMAKER. So many roles and plays. Directed me as Hal in PICNIC and he also played Howard in that production. I'll never forget his taking several head shots of me one summer hat I still have. We always joked about father/son roles because we were both the same age.
