Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Edmund Purdom

    Zipper69 — 18 years ago(January 18, 2008 07:17 PM)

I've just seen on TCM an extended short - not sure how to describe it. A female "star " welcomes in a group of press men, there is a lot of dumb singing and kinda dancing, all about her new film.
I'm pretty sure Purdom is one of the four male leads, his looks are unmistakable, another looked like Richard Anderson the guy that played the sidekick on "6 Million Dollar Man" and a third like a young Cliff Robertson.
I would date it to mid-late 40's, maybe early fifties, can anybody offer an idea what exactly I saw?
    Don't touch that!
    Why Not?
    It does very bad things

I was wondering the same thing so I did a little research. It's called "Great Lady Has an Interview" with Lana Turner, Steve Forrest, Edmond Purdom, Richard Anderson and John Erikson. !954. (Lana and Edmond did "The Prodigal" in '55, I think.) Seems like a screen test. It sees Garland did the number in "Zigfield Follies" some years before. It does get your attention.

Just a small correction to your text. It is EDMUND PURDOM, not Edmond. Could you give a little more info on this "Great Lady has an Interview" as I have not seen this in South Africa.

I found a good bit of info by going to Google.com and entering "Great lady h16d0as an interview" "Lana Turner" in the search block. It brought up a number of interesting sites.
Hope this is helpful and thanks for the spelling correction. I've always been a terrible speller. BTW, do you get Turner Classic Movies on tv in South Africa?

            Hi! cypressecj,
Thanks for the info, I certainly will look up the google.com site. I am a very big old classic movie buff, and am always interested in new sites to browse.
Thanks for your good humour in not taking the spelling correction amiss, but I have always believed that the spelling of ones name is sacred and should be spelled correctly.
With regards Turner Classic Movies, yes we do get it here on our Multichoice bouquet, but we have been seeing almost the same movies for the past 20 years. Now and again a new one will pop up, but mostly the same ones rotate monthly. Multichoice is our main digital t v provider, besides our local t v stations, which do not offer much as they always have ad breaks which are annoying, whereas Mck do not have ad breaks during the movies.
Where are you from, and how does the TCM programme work in your area?
Greetings from Ann / South Africa
