Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Brett Ratner

he doesn't make masterpieces, but he is by far a better director than lots of other people out there and majority of his films are good. rush hour trilogy is a great comedy series, x man 3 wasn't that bad at all, red dragon is a decent film, most of his other films were only average but still better than most other films.
im baffled how his name comes up when talking bout the worst directors.

For me, he's the most bland director out there. You're right, he's not the worst director, but he has no style which I think is kind of worse. I'd rather watch a Michael Bay flick than a Ratner one because at least Bay has a distinct style, and I hate Michael Bay.

He made X3 thats where everything started. Xmen fans hated that movie which eventually made that movie the worst superhero flick and the guy who made them became the worst director.
I liked rush hour and Red Dragon. they are good movies. Everyone who hate him is because he made X3 suck. I am not a fan of him or the Xmen. I dont give a damn of X3 too , I dont think it was that worse but they ended the franchise. More over I dont like a bunch of super heroes running here and there to save the world beep
I like Batman ( human super Hero ). When Nolan made a realistic take on Batman by avoiding supernatural elements such as Ras Al gul not immortal , Joker Painted his face and Bane not using Venom , People ( fans ) said the same complaints and thaught movie would suck , But Nolan alreday proved his mark with BB in the begining so people avoided it. If BB had Bombed at box office these stupid mindless comic fans would list him the worst director and everyone would hate him

Personally I think Ratner's okay, he doesn't usually make movies that I normally rush to the theater to see but he's nowhere near as bad as a lot of people make him out to be. As for X-Men: The Last Stand I don't blame him for it, I blame Tom Rothman, as should most people.
I have an unbelievably long ignore list.

He just makes fun popcorn movies and there is nothing wrong with that. I believe if all of these complainers actually were on a movie set with him, watching him work in pre-production and post-production, they would suddenly realize the guy does have some talent and also realize he is a better director than they give him credit for. His movies are well paced and the acting is always good. In fact, I really liked Tower Heist and Red Dragon, both seriously underrated movies.
