Regardless of the above comments maybe SHE wanted to retire and do something else. Many people change careers. It is true that most actresses no matter what color have trouble getting good roles after 40. Just watch Julia Roberts and a bunch of others (Demi Moore) I could go on and on and see where any of them are in 5 years. Hollywood is sick. They keep using a fossil like Harrison Ford and giving him a wife who is 30 years younger. It is a double standard and it sucks. Tracey is probably still beautiful. She had a very delicate beauty and a great voice.

I would say the reason why Ms. Reed is no longer working in Hollywood is simply because shelike Jayne Kennedyjust got old.
Like Jayne, Tracy's major strength, and probably her only strength, was her beautiful appearance. She was picked for certain roles, like "Car Wash," largely because of her attractiveness. But unfortunately, Hollywood starlets, like athletes, have to adhere to father time and their careers are very short-lived.

For someone who's career was so "short lived" she certainly got alot of work in the 70's, her career spans almost 20 years I would hardly call that short lived.
I'm sure she is still gorgeous but older women are underused in Hollywood. Look at the crap Julia Roberts does now. She ain't no Meryl Streep either but she got lots of work in the 80's and 90's.
Cicely Tyson is a brilliant actress and while getting a role here and there has a hard time like most women her age.
Actors can work until they drop dead on set but women are treated different.

Well, in comparison to major Hollywood stars who start their careers as young adults and continue until their elderly, her's was b68short-lived. But I was suppose it's all relative.

Yeah, but that is the exception and not the rule. So I wouldn't say Tracy's career was "short-lived" by any stretch. She was never a major star, mainly TV work, but she was very active for two full decades. That is definitely the
                    exception
                    in Hollyweird.

She was also a good wrestler, as she showed in the movie, "All the Marbles". Very sexy women throwing one another around. What more could the average guy want? And if you take offense at that, PLEASE lighten up.
