I'm not sure why you'd compare Match Game, a daytime game show, to feature films that were written for adults.
Besides, who took little kids to see Saturday Night Fever or Goodbar? I saw the former when I was 13 or 14 and I was bored. I have no idea what Looking for Mr. Goodbar was about.
If Match Game was in movie theaters in the 70's, I think there's little doubt that it would have been much raunchier than it was. With that said, I always thought Reilly was funny on that show.

No argument, but if we can all manage to contain our antipathy towards this guy's drivel, and summon the inner strength
          not
to respond, the whole damn thread will fall off Charles' page and into the oblivion where it so surely belongs. It's already been the number one topic on this board since 2008. That's two years too long IMHO.
By the way, I knew Charles. He would have rolled his eyes and made an appropriately hilarious remark about the OP.

Sir, Charles' 'private life in the bedroom' was the same as any other human beings was/is. This is what has provoked the unpleasant responses to your post. As we all do, Mr. Reilly was looking to be loved. He sought love from other menso what. He was harming nobody. Until I was a teenager I thought Christianity was about the worship of a God of love. As an adult I have realised it is too often used by bigoted and ignorant people as an excuse for more hatred. Look really deep inside yourself Sir, and reflect on this. If you cannot come out with a more loving and accepting attitude to other loving human beings, then you Sir are simply EVIL. Your God made Man, some Men love other Men. Does your God make mistakes? Gay people have to be who they were created to be. Your reliance on an ancient and unreliable text for your bigotry is not right. Seriously, go away and think about this. Your 'good book' is wrong and ultimately is only the interpretation of fallible men!!!!!!

He was an openly gay man. Leave him alone without your god.

You are a GOD damned NUT!!! Charles was an out & proud gay man who lived out LOUD!!! He encouraged children to be themselves and to embrace their sexuality regardless of preference! You stupid quacks always try to instill the fear of that idiotic and fictional book called the bible! Don't insult Charles's intelligence or body of work with your twisted translation of who and what he was, which is more than you'll ever amount to!!!

and the Son of God never said a thing about homosexuality.
