Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Charles Nelson Reilly

In 2004 he did an episode of Dinner for Five, that great IFC show about indie cinema. The conversation turned to contemporary movies and actors and Reilly said that the reason why actors from the 40s and 50s like Henry Fonda or Humphrey Bogart were able to be imitated to this day and wh111cy modern day actors cannot be imitated (implying that there are no good actors today), is because the actors today were never on the stage. I always thought that was a good answer why modern American films suck.

Check out Titus Welliver Deadwood on You Tube, and see if you think still think he was right. As good as i have ever seen.

I still think the OP's comment about how modern American films suck is largely accurate. Nothing compares to the films from the classic Hollywood golden age.
