She didn’t say anything factually incorrect or disrespectful. So dumb
People who are trans gender would beg to differ with you, but according to the majority of posters in this thread, their opinions about what does and doesn't disrespect them don't get to count.
And surely, the reason their own opinions don't count absolutely has nothing to do with transphobia or trans bigotry. Not at all. We mustn't even consider that possibility. -

Trans people identify as the gender they transitioned to, not as what they were identified as by a doctor when born, which involves only superficial visual identifiers to make the classification, when in fact what is going on in their brains is more meaningful and important (remember that sex is biological and gender is only partly so).
So to refuse to call them what they ultimately are is indeed disrespectful and genuinely causes unnecessary pain and discomfort.
It costs the rest of us nothing to use their preferred pronouns and such, why not just do it? -

"Trans and cisgender are not the same" is a reasonable statement. But Rowling doesn't respect that trans gender identities are real and need to be respected. She has gone as far as to actively oppose legislation granting civil rights to trans people. She's a jerk.
None of this should come as a surprise given how shockingly conservative the politics of her Potter books are, as extensively discussed and documented by the wonderful YouTuber, Shaun: -

No one should be so insecure about themselves to demand respect when they did nothing to earn it.
I don't see basic respect about something so central to a person's identity as something that needs to be first earned. And in an environment where open disrespect for trans people is so common, insecurity is guaranteed to be a factor. Why do you think suicide and depression are so much more common among them? -

Why should their depression and insecurities be our problem?
Please articulate how simply using a person's preferred pronouns is somehow them making you saddle yourself with their problems.
What does it cost you to do it? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
