Have you come across airlines charging you more based on your zip code?

No, that's not what I'm talking about and that's not what's happening.
As far as airports go, I've found the opposite to be true. Even when I've lived elsewhere, we'd go to another state to fly out of the smaller, regional airport and everything was so much smoother, less expensive, and ran better.

huh? how would i know if my zipcode is price-determinant since i have only one zip code?? sorry i have never once come across this conspiracy. years back there was some situations where iphone users on expedia were charged more than android users for identical searches, but i think that fizzled out into nothing more than either youtube clickbait lies or a legit glitch.
or do you mean departure airport? airlines have mains and hubs; hubs tend to be higher since the flight traffic on average is lower than a main.
from MIA to JFK is about 1200 miles. from kennedy to berlin is approx $600 cheaper than from miami to berlin, same day, same airline, same hotel for a package price. obviously that $600 is not due solely by the shorter flight distance: airlines, airports, hotels, etc are all working the angles, and that's why certain airport departure points have lower prices than others, otherwise the 20 miles from FLL to MIA shouldnt produce hundreds of dollars in price differentials. -

It was teased as something to appear on the 10:00pm news tonight, so I'll know more about what they're talking about then, but based on how they presented it, it looked like airlines would look at your zip code and perhaps determine if they could charge you a higher rate and get away with it. Like, if you live in Beverly Hills, CA compared to Fayetteville, AK.
There are already some strange new fees going on with regards to luggage.
I am not a frequent flier anymore, although I used to fly all over the country quite a bit.

Going off at a tangent slightly, but I just managed to book two separate trips away purely on Hilton honours points.
I recommend signing up to it if you're a frequent traveller.
