Do kids actually think his shows are funny?

I get a steady dose of Dan Schneider-produced television in my home, courtesy of my son, who is a big fan of Nick. Is it just me, or do his shows always have an idiot scapegoat that the rest of the cool kids make fun of, and does he have something against overweight people, since he seems to ridicule them often (which is bizarre, since he's a big man himself).
I have to say, over the last couple of years, I have come to dislike his work. Then there's the pedophilia rumors, which never go away. -

I have to say that I am pretty much done with this guy, and this is coming from someone who followed iCarly for nearly three and a half years. Now I will say that I went through a Nick phase at one point, even as an adult, because I actually enjoyed his shows, but man, I really have seen the light. There are a lot of problems with his shows. His characters are unlikable; there are a lot of ridiculous things that go on; Not to mention that I don't really understand his brand of comedy now. I mean, yes, one will argue about the aspect of some of the characters, or how when something happens, it's all supposed to be funny, and people will argue about how it's all for kids.
I will say that not all Nick shows are bad. I actually liked True Jackson VP, which I found to be such an under-appreciated show, and I guess Nick likes to play favorites because they did not give a single damn about that show. I actually enjoyed Scott Fellows's work like Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide and Big Time Rush, and while those shows have their ridiculousness, at least they had some decent stories in some episodes and did not have to stoop to mean-spirited levels like Schneider does.
I totally said "Screw Dan Schneider" after sitting through a few episodes of Sam & Cat. I was done with him after that travesty.

Well said. The humor on Sam and Cat and Victorious was dreadfully mean-spirited. And I really liked True Jackson; it had well-developed, likable characters and Nick never gave it a shot. My son still talks about it (he is developmentally disabled and has been "stuck" in his teen years for about ten years).
And I miss Ned's Classified, although of course they couldn't go on with the kids growing up! My son loves The Thundermans, which isn't Schneider-produced (thank heavens), and has a fierce crush on Kira Kosarin, who plays Phoebe. I'm really glad that Nick is showing some non-Schneider programming.
All that said, I am kind of liking Henry Danger, although the Piper character is a demon from Hell. Typical Schneider creation. -

I think his last good shows were iCarly and Victorious. Both of those shows were watchable, even through they're worst episodes. IMO, his most recent three shows (Sam & Cat, Henry Danger, Shakers) are absolute kiddie garbage. I don't know how anyone over the age of 10 finds those shows enjoyable.
