I have looked but just can't place the movie. I believe it was Schneider it could have been Wopac, but a young man moves from the south to I believe NY neighborhood. He sticks out like a sore thumb. He starts fixing up some of the area, or something.
Can't place the name? Anyone? -

It's probably my imagination. I've looked at his page but can't find it. The story was set in NY. I was thinking, it was Schneider or Wopak, moved from Mississippi to a ghetto area. The movie shows how he adjusts an learns to fit into the 1908neighborhood.
One think that sticks out he was a carpenter. And was facinated by some wood called Looplally Mississippi Pine. Or something else like that. I saw it on TV, a kind of movie of the week thing, Late 80's or early 90's. -

I went to read the synopsis on Dream House but there was none but I did read the comments of someone who watched it. They talked about someone coming to NYC from the country in a camper and decides to build a house there and it dealt with the problems he encountered. Probably the closest thing to the OP's request we are going to find.
