Is it my imagination or does anyone else see not only the physical resemblance, but also the similarity of some of the roles both actors have played? Granted James Mason's voice was so very distinctive and Dougray's isn't much like Mason's, but there is a certain character quality about both actors that I find uncannily alike I'm curious about who among Dougray's fans even remembers James Mason and who might agree with my assessment wholeheartedly or with some reservations

You are right. I haven't seen Mr. Scott in action but from the still pictures, yes there is a resemblance. Wouldn't it be great if he were pegged to portray James Mason. I wonder how well he could imitate Mason's austere and highly distinctive vocal cadence and intonation.

It would be wonderful casting, indeed, Draculoidal. The only one who has a voice similar to Mason's is actor Michael York, of "Three Musketeers," "The Island of Dr. Moreau" and more recently "Austin Powers: Goldmember" fame. In fact, Mason's late wife Pamela, who had already divorced James, several years prior, was a guest on The Tonight Show, with Johnny Carson, when York was booked to appear, too. I don't know if this was deliberate, or not, but when she heard him talk she nearly swooned, then started commenting about how much he sounded like her ex-hubby Unfortunately, York never resembled Mason and is too old to play him even if he did, at this stage, anyway. (smile) While Dougray Scott resembles the late, great Mason his voice doesn't have the color, body and resonance that Mason's did so I don't know if he would be able to "capture" its essence.
