Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Jean Seberg

    natasha_fatale — 19 years ago(November 26, 2006 12:41 PM)

Did they ever investigate her last "husband" Ahmed Hasmi (apparantly not a legal union, where was her third husband Dennis Berry???) as a suspect in her murder?
Sounds like he stole pretty much everything from under her, therefore he had the biggest motive to murder her: to silence her forever!
Even though she had a pretty screwed up life, she sure went up against the establishment, in the form of the FBI. By proving what an evil sadistic liar J. Edgar Hoover was, she went to extreme of providing evidence that her stillborn daughter was not a product of a union with a black man (a Black Panther member).
I do believe that it was implausible that Ms. Seberg drove drunk and without her glasses through the suburbs of Paris, only to die in the back seat of a car resulting from an "overdose."
I feel bad for her surviving son, having both parents die within a year of one another is truly tragic!

You have an overactive imagination. She had obviously been mentally ill for years.

Why don't you get acquainted with the facts and then make a comment. OK?

I am acquainted with the facts. She was mentally ill, period. What person in her right mind overdoses on barbiturates while pregnant?. She was responsible for her baby's death, for god's sake, then she couldn't live with herself, attempting suicide every year after that. It took her nine years to get it right. Yes, she was under investigation and had a dossier by the FBI, but I hardly think that's enough reason for you to think that the US government murdered her. You probably think that Marilyn Monroe was killed by the Feds as well. Get real.

why don't you show some facts instead of trying to be a comedian, BTW you're not funny
It was a known fact that she supported the "New Left" movement of the 60's, and other groups that were affiliated with them. This is the reason why her and other celebrities such as Jane Fonda, were made targets by the FBI/COINTELPRO. Who in turn planted a false article in the celebrity gossip column of the LA Times, which implied that she was not only cheating on her husband with a Black Panther Member, but also that the Panther Member was the kids father (which Romaine Gary denied).
It was a fact that she was emotionally unstable,so the article provoked her to attempt to commit suicide by overdosing on pills, Which caused the death of her unborn kid. which would eventually lead to her death years after the fact.

I thought thelostboy1978's comment was funny so, maybe he/she is a comedienne. Anyhow, I don't think Jean was killed. She might have had controversial political & social fews which causes J Edgar Hoover to bug the hell out of her but, so did a lot of people. The Feds are pretty notorious for keeping tabs on celebs with different views especially in the era.
Jean suffered with depression for years. Anyone who attempts suicide multiple times will eventually get it right if they don't get proper help. A simple look at Jean's history easily explain what probably really happened. The simplest explanation is almost always the right one. I really don't think Jean was silenced in any way. I think she was just tired of dealing with life in general.
"I think only stupid people have good relationships."

Sigh.. such closed, cliched "linear thinking".
Just because she was depressed does not AUTOMATICALLY mean it was suicide.
Just because you are paranoid DOES NOT mean you aren't being followed.
She did not have her contact lens in.. or on her person which she herself admitted on many occasion she NEEDED to drive. Why would she get out of the front seat, to move to the back seat? Who sits around in a car, alone, and moves to the back seat for no good reason.. when her apartment is not far away?
I'm not saying she WAS murdered but simply saying "she was depressed, that MUST mean suicide" is just silly.
                  geez.

Oh please. What the world needs is NOT another conspiracist. Put your mind to better use. At the time of her death, Jean was low on the radar. Like the actress Capucine, what killed Jean Seberg was growing old. Same with Vivian Leigh. These women, known for their beauty could not handle getting older.

Just watched Breathless. Interestingly, she said she never liked the characters she portrayed in the French cinema since she was completely opposite of them. I find that she was very similar to the woman in Breathless, the more I read about her.
Natasha, I just read another thread where they were discussing the Richards' bio of Jean and they sort of agreed it was the Algerian man that she married, but not legally, that killed her. He was ripping her off blind.
She was not in her right mind. Her son Diego said she would have conversations with the refrigerator.

People love to search for fault in others(men),when Seberg was responsible for her own actions. The sad part is that she felt she had to end 2000her life.

I don't know much about her nor seen much of her stuff. But if the FBI did enough to mess with her life I don't see where they wouldn't end it or rather help the end. I mean when the news reached the states you think it was the whole thing this is the 70s we are talking about. I don't personally buy the whole suicide thing. Once the FBI messes with you, you don't just pass go after
