Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Rod Serling

    SnacksForAll — 16 years ago(May 18, 2009 06:03 PM)

Hey guys, I HATE To be this shallow, and please forgive me for posting this topic I am not trying to trollbut I just noticed the profile pic they have of him (from the Night Galley years, presumably), and that seems to be a toupee Mr. Serling is wearing! I had no idea. His hair seemed to be the real McCoy in the Twilight Zone. Was anyone else here aware of this before?

Peoples' hair look different from one time to another. In TZ, he had it short; in NG obviously he grew it out a little.

I think you're rightplus, with some of the styles of the day (which probably included LOTS and LOTS of hairspray), it's hard to tell.

I've read various books about Serling and don't recall any of them ever stating that he had worn a hairpiece. And I even remember one book bringing up impotency, so I don't think it would have been off limits to call him out for fake hair.

I think the OP is correct. The photo on IMDb looks like a hairpiece to me. I saw some clips of him on that PBS show Pioneers of Television that must have been done in the 70s and it just looks fake.

Its an obvious piece. His hair during TTZ was also a piece.

Oh yeah, he did. Quite typical of TV personalities of the time, no big deal. You'd be hard pressed to find the hosts who DIDN'T wear some kind of hairpiece.
