Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Garry Shandling

I first saw him in Mother Goose Rock 'n' Rhyme as Jack.
But I pretty became aware of him through the trailer for What Planet Are You From?
To me he is Senator Stern in the Marvel films, and Verne in Over the Hedge.

Way before that. It's Garry shandling's Show from the 1980s was the first time I really caught him. I found out later he was a writer on the very funny 70s sitcom Sanford & Son.
He made a lot of people laugh.

OMG, I almost fell out of my chair when I read that. I watch S&S almost every day. And, I always thought what wonderful writing this show has. It's a super-witty show. I had no idea Garry wrote some of it, now I am not surprised it was so good.
I used to watch his shows in the 1980s as well. Loved it. Some jokes I still remember today and quote them often. I miss him alreadysigh.

              I remember being aware of
              It's Garry Shandling's Show
as a kid, so late-80s. Back then, FOX aired the reruns. I didn't remember much of the show111c, but rented the first season from Netflix, and found it hilarious.
Was an even bigger fan of
              The Larry Sanders Show
. I really wish Netflix would re-stream the episodes, along with IGSS.

when THE LARRY SANDERS SHOW first aired. i was in my early teens, and it became one of my all-time favorite shows.
wasn't until later that i became aware of his previous tv show, and have yet to see an episode of it.

1986 on the Garry Shandling Show on Showtime. I was barely 11 at the time and thought he was funny as hell.

Early 80's HBO stand-up specials, usually with Richard Belzer and David Brenner.

The Garry Shandling Show in the mid-80s, which I loved from the moment I first saw it.
