The first time that I learned of Garry Shandling was when I saw him in the movie adaptation of David Rabe's
Hurlyburly
. I later saw him in the strange
What Planet Are You From?
and the infamous
Town & Country
. I've never seen either of his TV shows. I don't know much about him as a person, but I've heard a lot of praise of him, so he was probably a good guy.

What Planet and Town & Country were pretty awful, I hear. He could actually be quite funny, and the best, very best, thing to see him in is HBO's The Larry Sanders Show. ONe of the best shows out there, because it shows people in show business at their meanest and most selfish, and it is hilarious. A not-to-be-missed show, good from the beginning to the very end.
