Well said anncoulteristhedevil4! I think Michael is a brilliant and diverse actor and quite easy on the eyes as well! I'll watch anything he's in cause he brings such emotional intensity to every role I've seen him in no matter what the genre.

If I came across as not liking Michael Sheen, that's not what I meant, I just think that he's taking way too many roles that are beneath him. What was he doing in New Moon?

No disrespect but I think his choice of roles have shown a remarkable diversity of talent. He does comedic roles as effortlessly as his dramatic roles. He's absolutely brilliant and was a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing "Tron: Legacy". He's absolutely mercurial and I look forward to seeing what he surprises us with in the coming decades. Not to mention his visits to 30 Rock
Well said! I absolutely loved him in Tron: Legacy! The way he acts is indeed brilliant!

Yeah, this fear's got a hold on me.

Poor Michael Sheen?? For well over decade Michael has been delivering mesmerising performances both on screen and stage proving himself, in mine and many others eyes, as the greatest actor of his generation. His range and diversity are stagering and it was for his performance alone in The Damned United that I came out of the Cinema, went straight to the box office and paid again to see it back to back. Famous for his other roles as leading public figures (in addition to Clough he played David Frost and Tony Blair brilliantly) he always produces a power packed performance. Everyone talks of De Niro & Pacino et al (and dont get me wrong I love them) but for sheer diversity Sheen outsrips both of these icons. Famous for their screen presence and intensity both of these super stars would struggle to match Martins performce in Unthinkable (or do a convincing Cloughy ha!). As for taking too many roles De Niro chooses stinker after stinker. Check out Dirty Filthy Love and then Unthinkable one evening to see Martin at his best in hugely different roles then Frost Nixon and The Damned United to see him showcase has incredible mimicary - pure genious. If he wants to broaden appeal he ought to do a Romantic/Comedy (!).Im sure he would nail it!

                      Poor NOTHING!
He keeps working and I'd say he's pretty smart for doing it that way because not every performance can be The Queen or Frost/Nixon. This will also give him more leverage to get roles like that when they do come along (and keep up with his craft)! To keep working is the thing, not every performance is going to hit the mark but it seems he knows this but it makes him a better actor! It is a business too, lest we forget.
Also, it seems he doesn't let distractions or baggage get in the way of his career and thank goodness for thatgo Michael!

His performance in Underworld (haven't seen Rise of of the Lycans) was the single best aspect of that film.

Poor Michael Sheen?? He's very talented and well respected, he gets great roles, what on Earth is there to feel sorry for him for. He does big budget to bring in some big money, but he's getting plenty of challenging roles too! I just don't get your point really.

other than kate ,there was nothing good in any of the underworld movies ,the only standout thing was michael ,he should have had a bigger role ,then again for him to have a bigger role could have just shown how lightweight the rest of the cast were ,even bill nighy wasn't up to his normal standard.

To say his roles dont resonate with people in genre films like Underworld is frankly ridiculous. I think what you should have said is that they dont resonate with you - but they do with many others.
I am quite confident that Michael Sheen would disagree with you too - he has regularly said the genre films are actually his favourite, and that he cannot abide film snobbery, which is exactly what you are displaying.
Put it this way - I loved Frost/Nixon, Damned United, and The Queen - but can guarantee you that I would NEver have watched them in the first place had I not picked up an interest in Michael through the first Underworld film, as they really are not my usual fair.

I don't know, I love the fact that he's accumulated such a quirky range of roles in different film genres. Acting seems like a magician's trick to him; "How real can I make this role for audiences? How believable can I make it?" I don't know if that's something left-over from starting with a major stage career or not - flesh-and-blood interaction with audiences, the challenge of having to produce believability under the naked eye - but he shifts it from one role to the next. It's always there.
There's also something very seductive about the way he transmits this presence of intensity, this "larger than life" quality of animation, onscreen. Not "seductive" as in, exclusively sexy, but this kind of control of the space onscreen that makes an immediatb68e connection.

First off. Id bet my life he ISNT the "Hardest working person in Hollywood. I get that you were really talking more along the lines of big name actors, but yeh theres no way hes the hardest working person in hollywood there would be hundreds of people busting their asses for tiny thankless feature roles on small tv shows while also doing an 8 hour shift at some beep hotel/restaraunt on the side in order to pay the bills.
Second, and adding to that, He has been in some major movies, so many actors will go their whole lives, and do hundreds of side character roles, work their butts off and not get anything close to what he has gotten, I think it is an honor and a privilege to do what he does.
Third, The Guy is AWESOME. What a great actor with great variety, and hes perfect for flicks like Underworld and even twilight, hes so menacing in his roles and he can bring an air of sophistication and class to each role, they said Pete Postelwhaite used to bring everything to every role (no matter how $hitty) and THAT is the sign of a truely marvellous actor. So many people would feel blessed to get any work, even if they are what some people consider "crappy, thankless roles" so to speak. So yes, Acting is a field where you can play great roles in a play or something, and do an amazing job but not get paid or take a major pay cut etc.
If anything I think it shows that he lacks a massive ego, and doesnt think that he is "above" the roles he is offered, I admire that and everyone could take a page out of his book, dont be so precious and be grateful for the opportunities you are given. I lost a lot of Respect for Franco, he has had numerous interviews in which hes been whining that hes been given sub par roles and scripts e.g. Planet of the Apes, and he continues to complain when hes making millions and millions of people arent making $hit.
Ok thats my rant over. I Hope Michael continues to work and bring great performances to every film he is in. What an inspiration!
