Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — James Shigeta

    hobnob53 — 11 years ago(August 01, 2014 10:15 AM)

I just saw that, four days after the passing of the wonderful Mr. Shigeta, IMDb has revised his birth year (though not specific date) to 1929. On the day he died it was still listed as 1933, as it has been elsewhere.
It's not unheard-of for an actor's age to be revised after his passing. At that point most people assume knowing the truth is important and can't hurt anyone. I don't dispute 1929 (or 1933), but even when he died it was said he was 81. Now it's 85. Anyone have any information on this matter?
In a way I hope his birth year was 1929 only because Mr. Shigeta would then have had a longer life. He was always one of my favor238ites. God bless him and keep him.
