Her character is defined by sexuality. So the implication is at first blush one would expect her to be an instant head turner. While she is a looker she's not stunning.
You don't have to look drop dead gorgeous to to be sexy.
She's a Fae and she has the ability to manipulate people into liking or falling for her with her Fae powers. Honestly she could look like a dog but with her powers a person would become enthrall and enamored with her regardless of her looks.
Her character is a magical mystical being and it's not her looks that make the people fall for her. In order for her to control someone she has to use her Fae powers.
The character of Kahlan on the series Legend of the Seeker was a Confessor and all the women who had the same ability could make someone confess or they could make them love them even if the person wasn't in love with them or even attracted to them. In one episode of that series a woman took another woman's husband or boyfriend by confessing him and making him love her instead.
It's also the same as a vampire compelling someone, on the series The Vampire Diaries Elena's mother has a lover who she compelled and she remarked that before she compelled him he was gay, she compelled him to to her lover, he wasn't attracted to Elena's mother until she compelled him against his will.
It's their magic or powers of compulsion that gives these characters on these series the ability to attract and control people not their looks.
Bo is a succubus they have the ability to make people do what they want looks have nothing to do with it.
Even a man or woman that you may not find attractive or sexy could be better sexually than someone you found attractive and sexy.
Men cheat on attractive women all the time and sometimes the women are not as attractive as their wife or girlfriend, obviously the unattractive woman was doing something the other woman was not.
In the real world I don't think Mae West was the most attractive woman in Hollywood during her time, but there are endless biographies about her and all the men she slept with and she had no problem bragging about all the men she had sex with either and some of these men were married to other more attractive movie stars in my opinion but Ms. West must've known what she was doing.
She knew how to work with what she had and that confidence made her sexy and men found her sexually appealing.
Anna Silk is working what she's got and I know a lot of men who would want to hook up with her and she wouldn't need a special powers to get them.
Most women can if they choose go to a bar or nightclub and pick up a man for sex and they don't need special powers either.

Thank you for making your points Gabriella. I agree. Women don't have to be gorgeous to be sexy. I mean geez, to me about 75 percent of the actresses/singers/etc. that make those Hot 100 lists aren't that gorgeous. They are pretty.(some of them).but they aren't gorgeous. It's been said that even the Greek Gods, if they were real, weren't that gorgeous in looks but it's what energy they gave off kind of like Bo's powers. Other examples would be Cleopatra and Helen of Troy.
All in all, it comes back to that old question.1ebc Ginger or Mary Ann? Some people prefer the "drop dead gorgeous one" and some people prefer the "girl next door". Either one you choose, they are both considered sexy.
And I agree, Anna is working what she's got. Because of the role, I actually find her completely sexy and snarky and witty. When I watched Lost Girl for the first time, it never crossed my mind "oh she's not THAT pretty". I thought "geez, wish I had her powers"! -

That's what I thought, and a lot of people miss that point, the writers don't have everyone Bo meets find her immediately attractive or fall in love with her, just like in real life some people find Bo attractive and sexy and other just see her as just another girl, these are the ones she has to uses her powers on to get whatever it is she wants from them or to get them to do her bidding.
Some people are just attracted to Bo and she doesn't have to use her Fae powers on them and others are not attracted to her and she has to use her powers.
Her mother was able to force Dyson to have sex with her even though he was in love Bo at the time, he didn't seem to be attracted to her mother when he first met her.
Those would be cool powers to have.
On the series Supernatural they did an episode about a succubus and they went in the direction that in reality it wasn't attractive at all but people saw what they wanted to see as being attractive to them, the succubus would change it's appearance based on the projection of beauty from it's next victim.

Thing is there's a false(or somewhat false) assumption in play: 5b4That a succubus would in fact need to be drop dead gorgeous. Fact is, a succubus doesn't need to be physically beautiful since the sexuality transcends the physical.
I 100% agree with this.
The issue I have with Anna Silk is that she doesn't pull off the succubus allure to me. Often her delivery reads as sort of cutesy/naive, not sexy. She can also be a little wooden sometimes and her "witty" dialogue sometimes seems forced, not natural (like with Kenzie). I just finished season 2 and I'm still on the fence about her playing Bo.
I like the character as written, but Silk's acting is only so-so. I try not to focus on it too much but I definitely wish they could have gotten someone else to play the role.
If she was as charismatic as a succubus is supposed to be then I would totally overlook any physical flaws. But she's not. She has a great bod, to be sure. Love how voluptuous she is actually. Her face is meh though so I'm throwing in with the OP.
I actually find the actress who plays Lauren to be even less attractive. I almost wish that Anna Silk was playing the Lauren character and they got someone else to play Bo. I feel like Silk's delivery would work more on a character like Lauren who is supposed to be a little awkward, wide eyed, and naive.

My sister and I watched the first episode together and when they showed Bo my first comment was "For a succubus she isn't very pretty". Anna is pretty but I imagine a succubus as being really hot. That's just my opinion though.

Everyone has different taste. It's nice you can point out some qualities about her that are nice, but you don't have to like all of them. I think she's gorgeous even her face. A lot of people think she is hot, some people do not. That's lie and opinion on EVERYBODY. Why does it matter if others agree that she's not a Goddess?
I'm blonde, but glad there's not some "hottie" typical blonde bimbo playing the part. And I think her characters hot-factor depends more on her personal charm than anything else. It's her powers, regardless of her not being the hottest woman alive to EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the world. -

I've watched a few more episodes after I posted on this board. I will admit that I'm starting to find her more and more attractive. I guess I didn't find her as pretty to start off with because she is a new face to me. I'm used to seeing the same people on tv over and over again.

I don't find her to be ugly at all. I think she's a very pretty girl but otherwise I don't think she's as 'sexy' as she should be for a succubus. She's not even the most attractive female on her own show. Ksenia Solo is way prettier than Anna Silk.

She's not all that pretty, but she's very HOT! I mean, if you want to tear her facial features down especially without makeup, I imagine her face is average, or so (she does seem to have a pretty smokin' body, though).
BUT half of "looks" for a lot of women is their personality how they "carry 16d0themselves," and at least in the character of "Bo," on "Lost Girl," (the only thing I've seen her in), she comes across quite a bit more attractive than she might if she didn't have much personality to go with that sort of long face.
Either way, she's certainly not ugly, by any stretch.
Now Ksenia Solo, on the other hand well, she's not really "pretty" in the classical sense, either, but she's so darned cute I wanna hug her and squeeze her until her widdle head pops off!
Seriously, her "cuteness" makes HER hot!
One thing I've been wondering since this show started running on SyFy, though There's this Subaru commercial that's been on for a couple of years, now, where a guy loses his sunglasses and he and his wife/girlfriend backtrack over half of the Southwest trying to find them until after dark, when she honks at him in a cave, causing a bunch of bats to come flying out, and when he pulls his hoodie on, his sunglasses fall down on his head from his hoodie The woman in that commercial looks A LOT like Anna Silk to me, but I can't find a credit anywhere if that's her, or not The face doesn't look quite as "long," but makeup, hair styles, camera angles and lighting could all affect things like that.
Anybody have a thought? Keeps buggin' me every time I see that ad.

First of she is amazingly gorgeous! there is no doubt. Have u seen episode 8 of season 1. She looks so awesome.
Everything about her is great
And this role is suits her perfectly.
I wouldn't chose anyone else for it if I was in the casting choice.
She plays is perfectly with her amazing expressionb68s with every scene she commits to.

It seems like they are going that way. They are confusing us. Since bo actually fell in love with dyson before she went for the doctor. Dyson sort of played her off to make her not like him.
But I can totally tell that its Bo/Lauren that should be together ! Dyson can be a good friend and Lauren can only be with her as her girlfriend. I just hope they dont end up killing the doctor or something and then in the end bo and dyson are back together.
Anywaysusually tv shows are unpredictable. But I vote for Bolauren team no doubt! -

i think they may have initib68ally thought that way but the popularity of the bo/lauren relationship and the Lauren character herself has kind of exploded so I would think they will def keep lauren in there as they must be doing all these polls for some reason and all are coming up very much on the bo/lauren side. Fingers crossed lol

there is a poll about team dyson or team lauren on the showcase site. There are a few poll results on closed ones and evey one that involves lauren or dyson comes out massively in favour of lauren. You should check out afterellen.com screen caps re lost girl as well if you havent already. Really funny
