Does any one know why Danielle was using crutches at the TV Land Awards that just aired in March? By the way, she looked very nice.

Back in 1977, she was involved in a car accident that killed her step-father (Tim Pelt). She herself sustained injuries as well. Fast forward almost 30 years later, she started having spinal problems (which rendered her immobile) as a result of that accident. For the past year and a half, she has been in therapy to start walking again. 2 weeks before her appearance on the TV Land awards, she had an operation on her spine, which would account for why she was on crutches

She was on Oprah's Where Are They Now? last night and she still walks on crutches. I wasn't aware of that, but I had heard she was diagnosed with breast cancer. What a tragic life she has had.
Strangely though, she didn't talk about any of the cast members dying like Shirley, Mabel King and Rerun. She did mention Rerun and Mabel, but not how or when they died.
