      Wow!
I'm not a Springfield fan in any respect, but I picked the book up last week because I like reading different memoirs, and it was available at my library.
I found the book to be very enjoyable, and much more beyond the kiss-and-tell most 'rock stars' his age have been releasing. His sexual excursions are only part of the book, with an emphasis on his spiritual path as well. Very moving, and well-balanced.
"Thank You, St. Jude for prayers answered."

        pvd295,
I had no interest in reading another celebrity tell-all, even that of someone whose work I admire, until I read your post. Now I really want to read it.

Well, I guess you can ignore my earlier question because I see your reasons for being disappointed in the book here. Honestly, the way it was marketed made me lower my expectations considerably. I didn't expect a "tell-all" so much as a "tell names," and only then to build himself up.
I guess Rick is wary of losing fans if he does a true confessional book. He's still an ama1908zing musician, though and that's what matters most to me. I just wish he'd make another killer album along the lines of "Karma" instead of dropping his memoirs.

I think a key red flag with Rick and the book is when he appeared with his wife on the talk shows to promote it. Frankly, when I think of Rick, the role of husband isn't what comes to mind, and it just seems like he was using his wife as damage control as so many men have in the past. Anyway, I still haven't read the book, so I can't go too far in my criticism here.
With all that aside, my interest in him is first and foremost his musicianship. He had some superb and mature albums with "Karma" and "Shock/Denial/Anger/Acceptance," but with "Venus in Overdrive," he just seemed to slip back into trying to rewrite "Jessie's Girl" and being a teen idol. I'm hoping for a more sophisticated approach in future releases. Success hasn't spoiled him yet or has it?

I liked the book. i did think that too bad that i was not old enough back in the 80's to be able to be a groupie(lol) he would have been so much fun to spend time with. and he was very cute(still is). I'm a model/actress and i would love to work with him one day on a5b4 TV show or film. there is something about him that i got from reading his book, that makes me feel like he is real and cool and not superficial or rude like some celebrities. i liked when he mentioned when certain things happened, how he saw it as a sign. Like the hawks. thats very cool, and i hope that he knows that he never needs to feel insecure, that he is a special person and that the fact that he is so honest makes him a good person. I am pretty sure that must be what his wife sees in him, and no one should judge their marriage.
