      Jon Stewart is

Wow, you think people are scum when they disagree with your politics?
        You sound useful.

Nope, never said that. I disagree with Bono's political views but he is a classy and respectable guy. Bernie Sanders political views are 180 degrees away from mine as well, but at least he is honest and means well.
Jon Stewart, on the other hand, is PURE SCUM, and everyone knows it.

Jon Stewart, on the other hand, is PURE SCUM,
            Why?
            and everyone knows it
I don't know it. And that's not a very good "argument" to support your point.
I'd be willing to bet that if Jon agreed with your politics (and acted exactly the same way) you'd be fine with him.

              Don't waste your time.
Reel has a pathological hatred of Stewart.

                But it is definitely
                not
                b/c of Stewart's politics!

No one can, in effect, replace Jon Stewart he is a singular, iconic satirist who has carried on an American TV tradition of political and cultural commentary. It was largely brought to broadcast in the 1960's, with shows like The Smothers Brothers, Martin and Rowan, This is the Week That Was and others. In the 70's, we saw the launch of Saturday Night Live, which still delivers fairly good work satirizing many of the current events as they unfold.
Jon is still here and I hope to hell he finds another platform to continue to deliver his often brilliant, hugely insightful and always entertaining commentary of life in a rebellious America. Who else could have struck up such great rela5b4tionships with key 'news entertainers' on Fox News and the like. He's well-liked and respected by many on every side and helped usher in a conversation around the table to give voice to a broad, diverse audience of people from young to older with great wit.
                    Boy, we really miss him!!

The only one I think that could have replaced him was John Oliver. Last Week Tonight is incredible.

Jon, oh, Jon, why did you retire? This current election cycle would have provided you with endless tons of material.

He's going to kick himself if Trump gets elected. Remember when he said he missed Bush b/c Bush made his job so much easier? With Trump, the jokes would write themselves.every day.

No matter who is in the White House, which party is talking or what the issues are, Stewart has always had PLENTY of great material to work with . . . Because, in large part, this Country's so-called 'leaders', our two constantly dueling major political parties, our various National/State
                              legislators and the bulk of
                              our populace are pretty nuts
                              providing endless, rich
material ripe for interpretation by a whip-
                              smart comedian and
                              commentator like Jon Stewart.
                              Again, I look forward to
                              enjoying his next chapter of
                              performances whatever the
                              form is!

I agree, both sides are awful and Jon would have been just fine regardless of who wins, but Trump is just a goldmine of stupidity. Probably even more so than Bush.
